New To On-Road
Hi all. I am looking to get into On-Road cars. I am trying to come up with a fun set up. I'd like something that is FAST...I mean VERY fast. I want something that would be pretty good if I was to run it on the track, but I also want something that could be cruised around in a parking lot or in the airplane hangar. I'd also like if I could swap out tires and it be able to drift. Here is the set up I was thinking about:
Car - HPI E10 assembled w/o the electronics (200mm chassis)
Electronics - Novak Havoc Brushless ESC/8.5T Ballistic Brushless Motor.
Batteries - Probably some Zippy or Turnigy 3 Cell Lipos
Would this do everything I am wanting?
About how fast do you guys think this would go?
Anything else I should know?

The E10 isn't the greatest car...that's my opinion though. Its pretty basic and you wouldn't see many guys running these at the track in comp level. Its more tailored for the parking lot type running. Plus the gears/diffs in an E10 might not be the strongest so if you wish to go really fast then I suggest you get a higher end -not top of the line but more mid range type of tourer.

I thiink the E10 is 190mm too.
I think you would go reasonably fast with that motor. I can't say for certain how fast though - sorry.

What would be a better chassis? Preferably under $175

Yes no use drifting a pan car...
Would be VERY fast though, and VERY hard to keep in a straight line.
You want a 4wd touring car. As said, the ta05 would work, or a hotbodies cyclone S.
You will probably find cheaper prices somewhere like..

It is listed as out of stock though...

a cyclone s isn't too bad at all and can be found for around that price you seek.
go a bit higher and get a rtr kyosho tf-5, great handling car that can handle a hot motor pretty well.

I really like that Cyclone S and I like that it is a kit. I think it would be fun to build my first kit.
What about like an EZRUN brushless system...They are pretty cheap, and I could get a faster motor. What is the fastest EZRUN motor (as far as Turns or kV)

a 3 cell battery is 50% voltage bump which means more speed, with an 8.5 you may have a handful. you might consider a 2cell and/or higher turn motor just to get used to it.

+1 for TC4 great for parking lots (drive shaft no belts) and can be a good car for Trans am racing. if you decide to race

plus a Cyclone S is a great kit for a first build to teach and ground you well in this hobby.

ballistic 8.5 would destroy the E-10. Sprint 2 is a good car to cross race with.
