Tamiya F104W Grinding Noise
Hi All,
Took my RC car for a spin today and noticed a grinding noise coming from the rear of the car. Took the diff apart, re greased it, reassembled the pinion and spur and took the rear axle off and reassembled it, however the problem is still there. I have attached a video of the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated

it seems that your gear backslash is too tight , try to loosen it a bit.
check also the pinion , tamiya's pinion are very soft , the tooth can "twist".

You have 2 issues going on. First your gears...it sounds like either something is caught in the teeth or something was and damaged the teeth. Go over both gears closely and pick out anything you find in the teeth and use an exacto knife or file to smoothen out any damaged parts as much as possible. Also check your gear mesh. When the gear mesh is set properly you should be able to feel a slight amount of play between the spur and pinion. The 2nd issue you have is dry bushings in the motor. Get a light bushing oil and put 1 drop on each. Give them time to soak in, spin the motor by hand a bit so that it coats well then wipe off any excess so it doesn't attract dirt.
