hey guys, just thought i'd drop in with some info that may be useful to you guys

i do a lot of drifting, and i do know someone that can get parts/chassis directly from yokomo. he told me that he got two of these r12s and they immediately sold on www.driftspeed.com . if you guys are interested, then maybe i can ask him about getting a few more...but from what he told me, yokomo japan is actually currently out of stock.

for more info, PM me..i'm pretty sure he can get just about anything as long as it exists

The car looks really nice.

But it's a shame that standard wheels can't be used. Who wants to glue tires?
I did that 20 years ago as well, but with today's brushless power?
And where to get the donuts?

I hope that pre-glued tires will be available in the future...

I got my yokomo donuts today, mounted one set for the first time ever and its dam messy work , not to keen on doing this to often.. but its a darn sight cheaper than pre-mounts

Hotdog...

Could you try something out for us? We are curious if the R12 rearpod & upper podplate fits a lowerpodplate from the RC12R5.1

Since you seem to have both and we're not 100% sure, could you try this and see if it fits the R5.1???

Thanks in advance...

I actually have pics of the pods!!! This may look like a 12r5 platform but trust me this is all Yokomo design. Nothing lines up to the r5. even the screws are mostly 2.5 not 3mm so don't expect to titanium or blue tamiya screws as I found out. I hate steel screws but this kit is a must! hopfull yokomo comes out with titanium screw kit! !!! 1st pics shows the 12r5.1/10r5 pod on the right!!!!

Well, looking at the first picture. The yokomo podplates seem shorter than the ones from Associated so what we had in mind won't fit.

This really is a totally different car!!! Very nice though... Love those wheels!!!

Thanks anyway for placing the pictures dude!!!

yes you are correct....it is about .100 of the difference is wider ....I took the measurement..
It this reason why the wheel is offset to maintain the standard 12th scale wheel base ?
Maybe the offset wheel help to less flex when it mounting in the middle of the wheel instead to the end!

Really sounds like the R12 requires you to run there rims..

There must be some kinda tool out there which helps put the donuts on the rims??

My R12 was sent out yesterday...

Planned to race it next week at SA state titles but might have to stick with S120 due to tires..

There is a tool on rc race and drift by yokomo but its not in stock yet.

I had a fight with contact cement and the donuts yesterday and managed to mount the tires without to much difficulty. be interesting to see the mounting tool and how it works.

Has anyone tried axles from other 12th scales that accept regular wheels?

Thumbs up

Looks like you guys are going to have to go old school and glue your donuts.
Here is the tool to make that job a lot easier.

Kimbrough tire horn
