Default Pit software...

There are a couple programs out there for loging motors, batteries, setups and such. I really like R/C Pit Tools By J.S. Kelly although, I can't get him to return emails. So who knows whats up with that. I've got another free where, but its not as good IMO. Was wondering if anyone knew of any other software? I find what i got very useful but don't care for it that much. THanks for your time!

What software are you using now? I'm in the market for something good to log all my data.

Regards

I'm a software engineer and I'm always looking for projects to keep myself sharp. I'd like to try and build something like this, but I'd like some feedback from the racers on here who are looking for pit software like you describe.

So start a list.... if you had software, what kind of features and tasks would you like to have it accomplish for you?

//Interested.

So what language are you writing it in, and more importantly, what sort of feature set are you building with? what will it do, in other words?

what I was thinking was having sections for on-road and off-road, the ability to import/create setup sheets for any given car; calculate gear rations, have a notes section, store race results, laptimes and such...

I am going to do mine in C# or maybe C++....

This is a general overview, but it shows the direction I was thinking in..

Cartmen34, any thoughts on doing this application on a PocketPC Platform ?

As far as features.

SetupSheet Kinda input,
Chassis
Gearing
tires
temps

Maybe a RaceDay input page
laptime
total laps/time for each round

Battery info, so we can plot battery performance over a period of time
Times cycled,
discharge times
charge time

Maybe A simple timer with alarm

just some ideas

That's a great idea. The pocket pc would be an excellent platform for this app, however that's not my area. I've never even tried to do handheld apps, so I'd have no idea what design tools or special software I'd need. You've given me something to research, so thanks to the idea!!

Perhaps clinttredway might have an idea as to what that would involve.

After a quick 30-second google, I've found that M$soft has a couple development environment for embedded apps. It might take some time to learn, but I suppose it could be done.

Perhaps someone else should take the charge on this one, as I'm simply to busy doing the overtime thing at work to be able to crank something like this out quickly. I hope you guys weren't wanting this soon. The development process for a REAL application takes months, sometimes years depending on the size of the application... plus, I'd have to learn a whole new language (eVB 3.0).... and on top of that, the pocketpc languages may simply not have the features we'd want to include in this app to make it really fully functional and user friendly at the same time...

For the Pocket PC, most of what you are asking can be done in excel, except for the timer.

Post the e-mail addy or website for R/C Pit Tools. Maybe if we all send him e-mails...he'll respond and we'll get hold of that proggy for evaluation to be posted here. What about the "other" proggy that you said you have. what is it? Can you post it here as well so we can all take a look at it? In as much that you are looking for some info. share the one's that you have. we'll all can benefit on this.
