don't do WT to WT comparisons. you can compare CST to CST though.

the rear diff fluid only needs to be think enough to not diff-out. when running outdoors on medium to high grip asphalt i was able to run a very think oil. the did my outdoor testing at Jackson RC, home of the 2011 ROAR On-Road Asphalt Nats.

when going indoors you need a thicker oil to prevent the car from diffing out.

I finally got 500K diff oil and the front diff in my car. This is awesome. On carpet, it eliminates the herky jerk that comes with a spool, but still pulls out of the corner. The car is butter smooth.

OK, i appreciate your explain, but could you tell me as well what brand of oil are you using it, please?
I just want to have the same ones as you just for comparing easily.

Robk do you race VTA? Just wondered if it 500 would be good in VTA? I have no clue where to start with oil for a front gear diff only in T3.

Start with 100,000 and then go thicker... up to 300,000 probably.

I don't see why it would not work in VTA. I'm going for a front diff that acts like a spool but is not so violent on and off power. Should work the same in a VTA car.

I have just gotten the spec R diff and I must say they really look awesome... What diff oil would you recommend on the rear diff of a 416 for stock rubber carpet racing?

I raced with the SPEC R diffs in my T3 this weekend with the new o rings. XRAY 100K CST Front and 1K Rear. NO LEAKS and as smooth as a new ball diff. Outdoor high traction asphalt.

NO MORE broken spool drive cups, and it still pulls hard out of the corners.

I WILL NEVER go back to rebuilding ball diffs again.

nice, right. i'd recommend you try some lighter oil in your rear diff next time out. you'll find the car will rotate even better through corners.

Robk, do you have a link where to buy the 300,000? What brand is it? I'll try this in the front gear diff in VTA. The track has low-med. traction. If that don't work I'll try the 200000.

I was recommending 2000 or 3000 wt for the rear, not 200,000 or 300,000 wt. I use 500,000 Traxxas oil in the front of my car. It's easy to get since it's for a Revo
