Need TA04 setup for tamiya Track.
I need a setup for tamiya track to run in the TCS race(GT2)
|
In terms of Tamiya springs....
Try yellow all around for a starting point (yellow springs & sway bars) If its too stiff in the rear try removing the sway bar If the back end is still looping around, go to a blue sping up front This is what I'm going to try when I take my Evo3 out |

Keyword: Tamiya Fine, why don't you give him yours since your sooo smart.... If you still want my help....what tires are you running? |
Originally posted by The Black Kat Uh I provided him with a starting point smart one.... Fine, why don't you give him yours since your sooo smart.... If you were smart, you'd know I don't live in the US so obviously I can't help on settings on a track I've never been before (I assume you've driven on the Tamiya track before??). Of course, I have a TA04 myself but I'm smart enough to know I can't help him. So the least I can do is point out the obvious. |
I run a TA04R at Tamiya with yellow springs all around with yellow swaybars front and back with Type B tires and 40 wt. oil. Handles nicely:nod:
Also, -1 camber all around |
That's a start!
Thanks alot guys!

No problem hope to see you there. I'll be running GT2 as well:nod:

Personally,
I prefer the White Front/ Blue Rear over the yellow F/R. The TA04 tends to have a lot of body roll and the stiffer setup helps with stability. Also, it helps guide the car through the center "kink" much better without swapping ends (as the yelllow/yellow is prone to do). The Tamiya usa track loves a 1-way. 40 wt oil all aound is a good starting point and the stock camber link positions work just fine. and yes, I've been to that track a few times. -Ling |

BUT I do know its an outdoor track and those springs work okay outdoors...so 2 + 2 = 4 Plus....Spring combos are a part of the setup...I was trying to help with one aspect of his setup....gee....I criticise, I get flamed...I point out the facts, I get flamed & If I help, I get flamed.... Good luck B-flat |
Ok!
Thanks black kat!

Hey guys!
Who has tamiya tires the B's

Since the Yokels seemed very tight lipped and secretive...
Here is my setup. Front: Toe 0 to 1 out chassis height: 5mm Stabalizer: Blue/heavy Front Drive: double/1-way Shock Pos: top 3 bot 2 (all the way out) Shock cap: ran 2 black 0 rings Shock Piston: 2 hole Shock Oil: 40wt oil Shock rebound stroke: 5mm Shock Spring: Red Camber: -1 Rear: Rear Toe: 2mm blocks Chassis Height: 6mm Stabalizer: none Shock Position top 2nd outside/in bottom all the way out. Shock cap: ran 2 black 0 rings Shock Piston: 2 hole Shock Oil: 50wt oil Shock rebound stroke: 5mm Shock Spring: Blue Camber: -1 (make the rear camber link as long as you can) Gearing: Standard is 120/35 Higher spur might give you more roll on infield Higher pinion would help with straight and sweeper speed. I usually run Mod but, I have tested very limited with stock. Tires: If you can Type B Compound. With HPI Yellows, Reds and Greens. Usually Yellows in the morning, Reds at noon and if its hot enough Greens in afternoon. Sometimes you can stagger the inserts by running FGreen/RRed or one that works well form me is FRed/RYellows (even at noon/early afternoon). Clean your tires well, some guys use Kinwald Motorspray juice. Braking: With the 2X 1-ways you will dial out most of the brakes or become loose. I do like more of an aggressive setup. Also with this track this is a setup that if I get off line it will not take 2 laps to get back into it. I have ran the 04 annually at that track in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2003 it was very dialed stock or mod, just could not overcome the racer jinx that plagues me at that track. A-Ko ps. watch out for The Black Cat   :weird: :flaming: |
