Losi XXX-S
Tech Initiate
I'm thinking of getting one xxx-s, but I'm not sure it can handle my mamba max combo 7700kv. I've seen several pictures with melted diffs. Balls are overheated from high speed and melt the plastic bed of the diff. What you think about this? Can I replace the plastics with metal diffs from other models or there is such tunning option for xxx-s? Is there any other problem I should know about, when using such powerfull combos?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have 2 of the Losi xxxs that I use as speed cars. Both have MMP w/ 7700kv motors on 3s. I'm running close to 100mph. I do occasionally have to replace the diffs. I'm running gearing around a 86t spur and a 40+ tooth pinion. Most of the time with the diffs is because it looses traction then regains traction again.

What about using hard shaft(dont know english word for locked diff) on front?

Bringing this thread back from the dead for one question.
I have all the parts necessary to build a spool, but I don't have the sand paper or gasket material.
That said, I did some searching and found out the sand paper is 86 grit. But, I don't know exactly how to build the spool because I don't have the amended instructions that comes with the sandpaper kit. I understand that I need to remove the differential balls, but do I need to remove anything else as well? Do I need to switch around any components to make it work?
Cheers for your assistance.

I have converted a few Tamiya ball diffs using a different technique. The diff balls are removed and replaced with Tamiya 3x3mm bushings, part number 54424. Tighten the diff bolt and you're done.

Weird timing, as I recently sold my Losi XXX-S graphite edition sedan
I am in search of replacement belts for this car. Any information on where they can be purchased. Thanks
eBay has the non-OEM belts available but should work the same.
That is where I got my last belt. Ebay non OEM and it works fine. That is where a Google search will most likely take you.
Use 3M 753 teeth, width 4 mm OPTIBELT belt. It works, costs nothing.
Practiced today with the chassis set up for USVTA. Rebuilt the ball diffs last weekend. It was a kick to see it run again at 1428 grams on the latest crc carpet. Very smooth and responsive.
