On a side note, I always wanted to compare 12th scale 4.8v electric with 10th scale 7.2v touring. I'll be comparing a typical qualifyiing run by Masami in 12th scale of 39 laps in about 480sec and his touring practice of 24 laps in roughly 300sec. The laptimes are 12.3sec per lap in 12th scale and 12.5sec per lap in touring.

Both classes are different, but yet I'm amazed at the speed of these 4.8v monsters running for 8 minutes.

Just a passing thought.
1/12th scale weigh nearly half the weight of a touring car and 1/12th also run foams which have alot more grip in the right conditions than rubber. Imagine how fast the tourers would be with foam tyres

Okay so 1/12th is finished but I just want to know how the qualifying was sorted out. Was it the points from the drivers best 4 rounds, or was it the lap times from the best 4 times

I only ask because going on the qualifying lists I've seen, Surikan eneded up with 592 points (144, 147, 150, 151) which according to my calculations, qualifies him in 7th for the A-Main??

Thomas Pumper made the A-Main, yet his best 4 scores were 146, 143,143, 142 (574)

Are the qualifying lists that have been posted on various websites accurate???

I think the track layout for TC's is different than for 12th, according to reports, but 4 cell would still be very quick.

Another 4 or 5 pages to read from the last 12 hours. So much for work !

Well done and thanks again to Shane, Jarrod and the rest of the crew. I will be putting in an application to the Pope for your beatification.

Saint Shane and Blessed Jarrod..........the mind boggles!!!!!!!!!

I know it's very early days and things will probably be very different by Saturday but it's interesting to see that there are 6 different manufacturers in the top 10.

3 Tamiya - 2 shaft and 1 belt.
2 Yokomo SDW.
2 HPI Pro 4.
1 X Ray.
1Corally RDX.
1 Associated TC4.

7 shaft drives and 3 belt drives.

Can't wait for tomorrow's news. I can see that I'll be sitting by the computer most of Saturday night, waiting for news.

We're a few hours aheadof the US in time - that's why Saturday night.

bender, there is a qualifying list way back on this thread, and two of surikarns scores are different to what you've found, he got 136 and 139, not 150 and 151.

I have seen the pics (great job thank you) and I notice most people us the Mazda 6 body! One question on this. What is the wing they have installed on the body? Sure isn't the original one!

Thank you

Nick

Surikans first 4 qualifiers (from page 27 of this forum):

136- 36/7:58.45
144- 37/8:03.81
147- 38/8:09.88
139- 37/8:01.85

Surikans last 2 qualifiers (from http://www.petitrc.com/2004/piste_el...vent_board.htm)

150- 37/8:14.58
151- 37/8:06.40

So his best 4 are 151-150-147-144 = 592 points = 7th qualifier for the A-Main.

What is going on here?
