I can almost understand the points they make but...remember also that it's a tuning possibility thats way out on the fringe....it may make tuning your car a bit tougher. Also be aware that if a car goes through tech at a race and it gets noticed, they may have a problem with it. Never tried it myself.

Yes you can do this. Way back before there was premounted/spec tires this was a tuning aid when building your own tires to race. Some tires worked better on 26mm rims then on 24mm.....so Yes you can do this. It will make the tire lower profile as well.

in the UK 2-3 years ago we always used 26mm rims and inch-ups with 24 mm tyres with great results. the tyres don't roll on themselves anywhere like they do on 24mm rims. also in hot conditions they are much more consistent as the tyre does not move as much on the rim generating less heat.

We also used to glue 21mm pit wets on 24mm rims with great success in results in the damp/wet.
run the 26mm, they are great!

What inserts on 26mm rims? For 24mm or for 26mm?

yes standatd 24mm inserts work fine, as you are stretching the tire slightly, they fit fine.

I would think you'd get less traction rolling too when using 24/26.

as the tyres are 26mm wide you get slightly more traction as 2mm more tyre is in contact with the track. let us know your thoughts after running them. As all tyres now used in competition are pre-glued controlled tyre, i think some of the fine tuning has now been lost, where you could be a 10th or 2 quicker due to tyre setup, but thats all gone unfortunatley.

I am just using my car for bashing so what tire would be better? HPI xpattern belted 26mm or HPI advan a038 33R 24mm? Also, does the 2mm make a difference?
