Default True Stock SPEC Racing

OK it's really getting out of control guys Stock Class is primarily for begginners and Intermidiate level drivers But because of Speed Control with timing advance, Boost ETC it defeats the purpose of calling this class STOCK SPEC Racing...

If we want this class to survive with need to go back to the old "TRUE STOCK SPEC RACING" like back in the old brush days where everyone is in he same level of playing field. I know Speed Passion is stepping up to this needed change for this class but it needs to begin with our local club. Now to be competitive on this class you gotta to have the latest Software of the week which is getting rediculous finding every ounce of HP out of your ESC/MOTOR to be ahead of the competition if everyone wants to go fast grow some [email protected]$ and run MOD.

STOCK SPEC RACING Let's get this class back to it's old root where everyone can compete and be competitive without getting beat by someone that have the best ESC/Software of the week. Lets take all the Advance Timing, Boost BS out of this speedcontrol.

I like the IDEA that Scotty Ernst will mandate this RULE on this up comming IIC 2010 that Stock Class will use a SpeedControl Without some sort of timing advance.

Not sure of the point of this thread. ROAR has addressed this as well. If where you are racing is out of control I would suggest you work with them to implement ROAR's rules on it.

Not to mention there were 100 threads with the same suggestion prior to ROARs rule changes.

i find these post funny. so if we "spec" the class we won't have motor of the week or batt of the week or speedo of the week?

I think the only way to "spec" a class is to pick a single motor, a single batt, a single speedo, and a single car. in that way you have a level playing field. until you find the guy that has the newest batts for that race and the newest motor for that race and the newest speedo for that race.

the only thing I can agree with the OP is that stock racing is too fast. but racing is racing and there is never a level playing field. not even in brushed

It's just getting rediculous that you must have the ESC/Software of the week just to be ahead of competion racing on this class. I quit racing Stock class for this reason and that is why I went back to MOD which is actually now cheaper to run and less hassle all you have to do is pull the trigger and go fast

I know it's already been address to ROAR and maybe the same thread like the others but for this class to survive it needs to start within our club.

We race outdoor asphalt parking lot, and we had a discussion early in the year and constantly talk about this very subject.

Here is what our race directors decided, one club RD and 2 other tracks run primarily the same program.

Novice
Tamiya Mini
17.5 Sportsman (Limited by speed controller settings. LRP Profile 4, Tekin v200 10 boost only no turbo, Novak any profile, no Blackdiamond or Castle atm) Rules were left open to change if anything showed dominance.
17.5 Expert (No ESC limits)
VTA Current rules (21.5) with the addition of 21.5 gearing 5.2 min and include 25.5 with 4.2 min gearing. VTA speedo rule is the same as the 17.5 Sportsman.
Nitro 1/10

Once we got the rules hammered down and in place there seems to be a general at ease about it. Turnout weekly (when the weather permits) we have 8-10ish Novice, 15ish VTA, 12ish 17.5 Sportsman, and 10ish 17.5 Expert.

Yap your right cause we made it happen that way. Back in the brush days on big races they always have a handout motor to even out the playing field. It does not matter what battery/ESC you have you are only gaining very minimal advantage but now with Speedcontrol with Timing Boost you can make 13.5 run like MOD motor.

Now on this class if you have speed and equioment for sure you will win and it's not suppose to be that way.

Good to hear you guys are doing it. I do own an off-road track but primarily for 1/8th scale Nitro cars. We did have EP slash class which is mandated to run box stock and work really well, I tech each truck before and after the race.

While I agree the "slow" classes are way too fast.

Spec/Stock racing has always been about squeezing the most out of all your equiptment(Motor, Battery, Speedo)

Not really ESC is now doing most of the work...
