Default Need some help i.d.ing this chassis

Ok i bought this car on ebay for about 70 bucks. It was listed as a Yokomo 4WD Electric Touring On Road Car Graphite - 969. Having little to no luck with finding it on the net so it leads me to believe... 1. its an older car 2. they didn't really know what it was. The body that is on it has spots cut out for a nitro car. but it could have just been a body they threw on it to sell. It came with a Venom fireball 19d motor , extra complete set of gears and no electronics. My problem right now is..as you can see there is little to no room for a battery pack. All my other cars i run Venom 3000 NiHM packs. Thats not going to happen with this one. I only bought this for fun not to race. The drive belts look a little warn so i may replace them. I would like to have it going soon so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....I added a bottom view of the chassis if thats any help..

It is indeed a Yokomo chassis. I think this is a type J car, I will attempt to find out exactly what it was called but I can tell you that my brother owned one of these. Yes its a older car, I would say roughly about 1998 or so. Parts will be hard to locate now because of that. As far as batteries go you just need some 6 cell saddle packs or a 2s saddle lipo for it but I would take careful measurements before purchasing anything for it.

sorry steve but the j-spec had red shocks that looked small in diameter like 1/12 scale shocks. the us spec had larger diameter shocks.

this actually could have been the type -j now looking at it as it has different shocks that are not made by yokomo. im not sure if the type j micro shocks were red after all ? i was going off of memory but i just looked at some pics of the type j and the one i looked at the micro shocks were silver.

That is indeed a Yokomo YR4-M2, unclear if it's the USA version or just the M2. The shocks have been replaced with HPI shocks. It is not a J-spec car, as the upper deck shock on the J car was way closer to the motor mount than on the USA car.

Here's a link to a good article on the timeline of the YR4 series of cars.

Androtaz,

Go to yokomousa (.) com and look at the manual section of the website. You can download the YR-4 M2 manual there. It should provide some useful info for you.
