19T Spec motors

Looking for opinions on the Epic 19 turn EP1101 PRO spec motor.....will be using it for club spec racing in my XXX-S. Also was thinking about the Orion Element 20022 19 turn spec motor thats based on the TOP hellfire motor setup...hear the magnets are really good ??

I wish that i could help you ,but I don't know about your local race track size.spur gear, foam or rubber tires, each motor are not the same from each other:(

How much timing should I run in the Reedy Quad mag 19t?

OVA 04-19-2004 08:07 PM

I would say no more 24 deg. short track 20 deg.

Korey Harbke 04-19-2004 08:52 PM

The Kr can tends to like less timing, even on the 19T. I would go 20 or less and gear up. It will give you more usuable power and keep the brushes good for a little longer.

For the Epic I have no idea... Haven't Tried one yet.

For the element, run big jim's narrowed brush trick that you can find in his book with Reedy 767's. Use trinity red springs and that should get ya in the ball park. For more overall power use purple springs but the comm will wear REALLY fast. With the narrowed brushes you will have to gear up too. Hope this helps ya out.

I'll be using foams (55-60mm) and our track is fairly sweeping with a 100' straight....I have 108, 118 & 128 64p spurs and the XXX-S'es final drive ratio is 1.83

That enough info ??

Here's a link to pictures of the track I'll be running on....

Korey Harbke 04-19-2004 09:47 PM

The track looks fairly open. Give the reedy qad mag 19T a shot. Run Reedy 766's and maybe trinity purple springs. Keep in mind you can gear the reedy's pretty tall. Haow long is your biggest straight?

opps sorry, just re read your post about the striaght length. Gear for around a 5.8-6.3 ratio. I've heard of some guys even going as tall as a 5.2 final drive ratio...

Hi Steve are you racing out door or indoor?

OVA 04-19-2004 10:00 PM

Steve your local track is nice and open flow and good speed.
I gear my at 5 low and 6 low final drive at 19t epic pro outlaw:sneaky:
I would use the 128 spur and start with the 36-38 pinion first and watch the car in the straight away , and in the turn
If your car still going fast before the end striaght way gear up one more teeth each time ..Make sure it doesn;t boge coming out of the corner Good luck

Thanks guys....

So you all like the quad magnet Epic Outlaw Pro ? I was considering the Reedy quad mag but somehow a Reedy label just doesn't fit in a Losi car ;)

Our local club track is very nice...those early spring track test setup photos don't do it justice...check that link again in a couple of weeks as we will likely have updated pictures posted. Lap times this past sunday with my Trinity Street Spec 21 turn were in the low 14 second range....the fast nitro guys were high 12's to mid 13's so my chassis setup is there but our motor rule this season calls for 19 turn motors....last years Street Spec motor rule is out the door finally

We have found that the Epic 19 turn outlaw motor is not that good as a tuned chameleon, Orion element, or the new Reedy Quad Mag. For all the racers that have owned the motor and have used it, after a few runs it goes prompting in the storage bin.

If the label bothers you :) on the quad mag, try the element / dynasty. They are very good motors and have a lot of torque.

I have also heard that orion may soon release a revolution motor that is for the 19 turn class.
