Grab a stick lipo pack and place it on the chassis. The standard flat layout fits. BUT if you place the pack vertically you'll also see that the side slits match perfectly to place strapping tape around the pack. The balance wasn't too far off mounted that way. Take a look. And you'll see what I'm talking about.

The battery is meant to be mounted flat in the chassis (47mm wide x aprox 23-25mm tall x 139mm long). Not standing on it's side - the idea is to get the CG as low as possible not higher.

The holes/cuts in the side of the chassis are for the battery packs with bumps on the bottom of them.... I'll get some pics up tonight.

Will the top plate from the Evo upgrade kit fit and work on a stock Photon chassis?

Royu - No, the chassis/top plate for the Evolution are totally different. None of the Photon chassis, top deck, bulkheads, motor plate, mount plate, steering plates, steering post or stand-offs work on the Evolution.

Woo Hoo.... my evo turned up today, haven't got my photon donor car yet, so gives me enuf time to prep the chassis and other bits. Just wondering about the screws that come with the kit, where are they for? I figured that the Photon would be suppling most of the hardware, but where do these ones mount?

I think they are intended for the standoffs. I just added them to my mountain M3x6's and went from there.

thanks

michael.

Josh - question for you. There is almost no clearance between the mount for the top place and the end of the motor mount. I run 17.5 most often and with a 100T spur I can fit a 33T pinion. That's borderline when running v203 or an SXX or whatever but we are often limited to v200 at local tracks or larger events in the stock classes. I'm losing about 1/8" of adjustment in the motor mount where the screw head hits the top plate mount. I don't think I have built it incorrectly. I can remove the bracket for the top plate to move the motor but that seems a bit of a hassle just to change pinions. I can obviously run smaller spurs but it seems as if I am going to be limited in my gearing choices.

Does this sound correct or does it sound like it I put something together incorrectly? I can't a picture up.

thanks

michael.
Are you using the buttom head for motor screw? The might help

I was. I did find one that was a little flatter. I can get a 42 in there no problem. Was just going in to edit that post...

As bad as I hate to run this chassis outdoors, I think I am going to try it out. I was going to wait for the indoor carpet season to begin, but I cant wait any longer. I hate the thought of a new chassis on the asphalt getting scraped up!

P.S Someone post some outdoor setups.

The extra screws/nuts are for the mounting the motor guard, the pulley mount to the motor plate, the pulley post and steering post along with a few extras for the standoffs. I guess I should work on the exploded view for that..lol...

Working on the updates for the CEFX site with new items. I have to get ready for our CEFX Spring Challenge today but after the race this weekend I will get to work on set-up sheets and more...

Back to work, long day just gettng started!!
