Dont quite understand the high front downforce bit .. theFF03 already has weight concentrated over the front with very little rear downforce. Would have thought a normal wing on the rear would be fine

And this is where discussions & difference of opinion begins...

I run all my Tamiya FWDs with the same springs front & rear & find that I do well as I am able to do high or low speed corners (& even 'monster' corner dots on the odd occasion) without the rear end getting 'twitchy', although I do find that the front does 'slap' hard if I get too much air Time . I can do the same with or without a body shell & therefore downforce is not an issue for me.

It is a matter of preference, of course, which makes this class so much more involving as opposed to the 'point & squirt' technique that 4 wheel drives seem to offer (again, my humble opinion).

The only problem I'm having (& others from reading some of the other posts too) is trying to get a separate Front Wheel Drive class sanctioned locally as although the FF03 does aquit itself very well, it does lose some 'punch' out of corners & finals grid starts (although that may change with the geared diff! )

Ultimately, the FWD system is great fun & with the differing opinions on how to set it up makes it competative racing

I've been considering getting one and trying VTA with it. The slightly lower speed and shallower talent pool (in general) should help even the feild. I myself worry about the front motor and bumper clearing typical VTA bodies.

I thought about trying VTA with it as well but a think a 4wd chassis is required for VTA...

I just ordered a FF03 Pro off the ol-ebay.

What are some traditional bodies for this class/car?

Would it be odd to run a traditional TC body?

I want to set the car up as it should be with the proper body.

How are you lowering the ride height in these cars. I am trying to achieve a 5mm ride height both front and rear, but the front is just too high? I set it up as per instructions and I took all of the pre load out of the front shock but it's still high.

I would say that you have built the front arm to shock cam link too short. Lengthen that link

can anyone tell me if the stock pro kit comes with tall body mount post for the rear?

I'm also having trouble deciding on a body, anyone have any suggestions???

I'm thinking about the Civic Vti body.

Think before you post. The Pro kit is the same as the standard kit except for some alloy parts. The standard kit comes with the Civic body. So what does that suggest about the length of the body posts?

There are a heap of FWD bodies that suit this car:

Civic
Accord
Pug 406
Alfa 156
VW Golf
etc etc.

Just bear in mind that for the majority of the bodies the front foam bumper must be removed because the motor out front takes up all the space under the body

Anyone know a good starting point for 48 pitch spur and pinion for a 13.5 setup, I'm going to use an epic duo2 13.5. What is the fdr for the ff03 anyway.

Thanks for any replies in advance. Or checking other posts should I be using 64 pitch.

No I built them to the size in the instructions. Wouldn't lenghthening the push rod make the car taller?.

The internal drive ratio is 2.60

I'd say just start with whatever you have for pinion gears. Then adjust when you get to the track.
