FFO3R
Dear guys
I am totally new to a FWD, and would appreciate some help from the experts please.
I intend to buy a FF03R kit to run on our local medium traction asphalt track.
Some set up advice especially for the gear diff assembly needed please. I.e. which diff oil is good
Thanks

This is just my $0.02, but I don't see the point of running a diff if you are going to run thicker oil than 50K (that's 50,000 cSt, just so there is no confusion ), you'll have so little diff action you might as well run a spool.
For reference, I started with 30K (30,000) and the car had tons of understeer at corner entry and had to essentially use full lock on all the turns with accompanied by lots of tire scrub.
IMHO, I think it all depends on your driving style, but my best results came when I dropped down to 10K (10,000). I think the car would have even done better with 7K (7,000), but my throttle application was not smooth enough to tame some of that inside wheelspin at corner exit.
And that's really what it comes down to, driving style. What I've noticed is that the drivers running more of a point-and-shoot line use the thicker diff oil because they have to--corner speeds are lower and you need max acceleration. The others like myself who use a more flowing line, like to use the lighter end of the diff oil spectrum.

Thinking of getting a FF03R, and have some questions... Had a FF03Pro last year with Spec-R geardiff and i had problems with diffgears not holding up for more than 3 packs. Does anyone know if the new Tamiya "original" diff holds up better than the Spec-R.

There will be steel gears for the diff in december.
I got up to 5 packs with mine and until the steel
gears are out I run a spool.
A $20.00 solution for now!

Thanks for the tips.
Tested with 200k, an in between of the various suggestions, and it felt good.

Body shells feedback
I'm currently using the VW Scirocco shell on my LWB.
Wondering if there are other FF specific LWB shells that give more steering

I'm really interested in what you guys are doing to make your diffs go "bang". I use the Tamiya Ball Diff, have done for more than a year.. same diff, still smooth and works great. It's seen a lot of driving over the last year and a bit. I'm using a boosted 21.5 motor in mine.

I've bought a secondhand FF03 with a few upgrades (alloy motor plate, alloy rear hingepin blocks, carbon battery strap) and its got a spool (unsure what brand but the outdrives have a slot for the driveshaft pin, along with a pair of holes in the ''plain'' sides), running it with a 6.5 and have no issues with power breaking the gears! I have had the dogbones pop out twice now (front right), so how long do CVDs have to be to replace them? Do TRF 416 ones fit?
