If Tamiya does create a stand-alone class for this chassis, I hope the only allowed bodyshell will be the "scale looking" Super Touring, Super 2000, or WTCC.

Well, judging by the info released so far, Tamiya appear to be aiming it at the scaler.

The longest wheelbase setting (257mm) would allow traditional touring car type bodies, such as the Alfa 156, Vectra, 850 etc that Tamiya have done in the past. Basically ''normal'' touring car bodies that we use now on Xray, HB, Yokomo cars etc.

The shortest wheelbase (233mm) brings it to shorter than the HPI Sprint GTI and Tamiya's own FF01 in SWB (both 237mm), so I'm betting thats for Kei-sized cars. But wouldn't Tamiya put those on the M05?

The middle wheelbase also is confusing for me, its 245mm, so perfect for some European hatchbacks (I want a Vauxhall Corsa VXR please!).

The other big miss Tamiya has in its lineup is the Peugeot 205 GTI which is such a cult classic, you just can't afford to dismiss it. That was a huge mistake and I think they should kick themselves over it. Tamiya would have made a lot of money with that bodyshell. A lot of other companies made it but they didn't respect the proportions of the real car and their efforts are just forgetable, unfortunately.
You are assuming a lot.

Went racing with my FF01 Toyota Exiv yesterday after a quick repair. Changed the Manta Ray balldiff for a TA03 balldiff and added spacers in dampers to limit downtravel.
Raced it with M05's and M03's and it was even competitive.... Didn't win but was not outpaced with it either.

Now my preorder for FF03Pro's are up to 6 cars. Seems we can get this class going at our local track. We run Lipo, EzRun 13T and foams.
Even with more weight and a bigger car i got the same speed as the M05's.

Also was lucky and found a nice new painted Tamiya Peugeot 406...
Might keep it and wait till i get my FF03...

Thumbs up

Looks like Tamiya is going to take the path Yokomo went with back in the 90's, with the Yokomo YRF-2. Same layout besides the servo position, shocks, suspension. also the Yok was belt driven.

Tamiya is making a good choice by making this chassis! Now hopefully they won't discontinue this in less then a year. GREAT chassis tend to vanish very fast for some odd reason, and end up on ebay. (Why tamiya!)

YRF-2

I'm liking this new Tamiya design, I'm just shocked to see where this 1:10th scale FWD is going to go...again.

I agree these bodies would be nice on a FF03 chassis. But also some new bodies from the WTCC ( like the chevrolet cruze or seat or bmw) would be very very nice.
I hope that this chassis will stay for a couple of years now. But anyway this chassis is on top of my purchase list. ( including the FF03 pro)
When will this chassis hit the market?? I 've read may this year somewhere.
