OK I have a batt pack my friend gave me and it would peak at like 6.83 or something in that area(this is a Sanyo 1300 yesOld ) and I tore it down and it had a dead cell (as I thought) and I was wondering if I could make the pack and replace the dead cell with a 1700 cell

"Smoke" is in your name?

Seriously, I think if you did that, you would prolly wind up with another dead cell in the pack or your charger will flip. Just make a 4-cell for your comm lathe or something.

you might just want to order some new packs. may be cheaper and less headache in the long run.

having one good cell in a pack or a cell with a higher milliamp rating will cause the other cells to overheat when charging. If you try and replace the old cell take the pack off before it peaks by a few minutes or just keep feeling it and when the temp rises noticably take it off the charger. JMO

Yep, consider this. Sanyo 1700 still have good punch and are some of the most durable cells.
