There's a shop in my area who is selling the QM for the list price of $54.... Guess some people are obviously buying it... I got mine at another shop for $34...

I'm curious about the Integy.... I've had no luck with the QM on the tight track I run and I hate supporting the big T some days....

So... why was it that Eddy thinks the Orion Element is not ROAR legal? Is it the way the armature is wrapped?

In that case we have to apply the rules to our motor of choice. The Reedy fails in that comparison. So until they come out with a list of approved motors with the Reedy on it or Reedy changes the motor to conform to all the rules (not likely) the Reedy will remain an illegal motor for ROAR events.
interesting The QM REEDY motor is the one they used for a handout motor at our recent R O A R region 12 champs

Howard..... that is interesting.

It's not legal but that doesn't mean the race director can't ignore a few rules.

unless I am reading this wrong looks like it is legal cut and pasted this from the R O A R web page

This is NEW CORRECTED VERSION FROM THE CLASS COMMITTEE:
5-49: All ROAR rebuildable 19T “Super Stock” motors may be either bearing- or bushing-type with an endbell that locks the timing at 24 degrees. The space between the magnets must be centered on one set of mounting holes, which will be marked on one side of the can to indicate zero degrees. The brush hoods will be aligned at 90 degrees from this mark, plus up to 24 degrees of timing. Only single piece (2 magnets in a can) or split magnet (4 magnets in a can) ceramic magnets are allowed. No Rare Earth or Cobalt magnets permitted. With single piece magnets the center of each magnet must be 90 degrees from the 0 degree timing mark on the can. Split magnets must have the center of the space between the pairs of magnets 90 degrees from the 0 degree timing mark on the can. Offsetting single piece or split magnets with the intent of increasing motor performance/timing is not allowed. Any deliberate violation of this rule will be cause to remove all motors of that manufacturer from the approved motor list for a minimum of one year.

If the motors are not submitted to ROAR, then none are legal even if they meets the specs.

Yeap, a race director can "BEND" the rules, it happens all the time, even Nationals.

Yeah... if that was the only rule applying to 19t motors. Pleas see my post above that mentions all the rules that the Reedy fails to conform to. In particular rules 5-48, 5-53, and 6-61.

So based on the rules for 2004 it is NOT legal. I'm not sure if those rules are the same in the 2005 ROAR rule book. Not to mention that most tracks just ingnore those rules anyways and go with (24º locked timing, 19turns of wire on tagged machine wound armature).

Paying ROAR to make rules like this is like paying a hooker to put cigarettes out in your eye-and nothing else.

Yes, you are correct, the Reedy 19T Motor is not ROAR legal. We released this motor before ROAR released their rules and at this point and time we see no market demand for a ROAR legal version.

That we know of, there are currently no motors that meet ROAR rules.

You can download the 2004 Rulebook here. The 2005 should be up soon.
