Now I know why this thing is hard to find (always out of stock). It's a piece of art, really. The built-quality of this ADV1004 is superb.
Thanks Per for the great assistance.

Next is to try it on track.

Cheers.

The build quality of their ESC's is FAR better than any others!

The only failures I've ever heard of are when someone connects the battery up the wrong way around (Been there )

The only thing I would do (if running high power Mod motors etc) is unscrew the bottom of the case and use a small amount of heatsink compound along the sides where the two halves of the case meet to help transfer the heat out.

I now find it hard to determine which is ADV1003 from the ADV1004. There's no name or mark between the two; unless you'll measure the gauge of the wires installed (by the factory).

Been waiting for over a month now for the cable that goes between the Speedo and the computer so I can try some 13.5 and mod racing instead of my normal 17.5 blinky racing I do. Hopefully the UK importer will get some turning up before to long.

The one in your photos should be the ADV1004 'BD' version. It is their most powerful version designed for touring mod application.
It is identified by the higher heatsink.

Does the latest firmware give you control over the drag brake? I'm running the 2.x whatever that is blinky legal, but the drag brake settings are inadequate, and the push brake is poor. So, they tend to sit in the box doing nothing. I'll send them in to get upgraded if it'll give them the same features as any modern ESC.

Am I okay to remove the fan from my BD speedo if I'm only using it for 17.5 blinky?

Easily, I ran 10.5 boosted with the smaller case version and it still didn't get hot.

You get 5 brake profiles. Each brake profile can have it's 'inital' rate set as a percentage and there's also a check box for drag brake.
If you tick drag brake it activates whatever you set as the initial percentage.

Does that make sense?

I'll try and take a screenshot of it's settings.

We have quite a few drivers in 17.5 blinky who have suddenly realised that they make a very smooth blinky ESC. Pity they are so expensive to begin with.

Thanks for that. I've taken it off now. They only weigh 5.5g with screws, pretty light =]
