Portable Generator Recommendations
I'm considering getting a portable generator for ourdoor races.
Can anyone offer recommendations for capacity, brands or whatever?
Thanx

if you can afford it... the Honda EU2000. ive heard chargers loud than this generator. you can easily power two chargers, an iron, a fan..and even a TV if you want kinda pricey tho. Its about $900 out here in california.
other good ones are the Yamaha, Honda EU1000...and if you dont mind the noise. the Coleman 1850 is only $400 at Home Depot.

I agree, Honda EU200 is the best choice. I run a Turbo35 with a Novak power supply, soldering iron, a second power supply for a cooling fan, and a air compressor off my EU2000. It is quiet and dependable.

Yeah Coleman Pulse 1850, it's not that loud, and if you call around to home depot you might be able to find a returned one that someone bought, tried and it didn't have enough power for there application and you can get them for as low as $200.00 with the same warranty as a new one.

I have a Honda EU1000 and it's great. When I race, I never have to use it because a racing buddy has the EU2000 and it has enough power for 6 guys. Probably even more. These Hondas are the real deal. A little pricey but well worth it.

I agree. I have the Honda EU2000 and love it. Really powerful and quiet. Also. has an econo feature which helps conserve fuel. The Honda 1000 is good too, and it should have more than enough power for your pit. If down the way you want more power, you can link them. So instead of just 1000 watts they give more linked, though not double.

I too have a Coleman Pulse 1850 ... I love it ... just put it at the front of the truck and the noise isnt an issue ... also .. unlike the hondas ... if your power goes out ... you can run your fridge, furnace/fan and TV at the same time with the 1850 ... really nice when you live in the sticks like I do ... comes in real handy in the winter when the power goes out to have the furnace still work and the fridge to keep going in the summer when power goes out ... so think a little past just RC racing if your gonna shell out the money for one ... I am glad I spent less and got the larger output of the Coleman ...

Coleman Pulse Works great, we have 2 people using it with Turbo 35's and pitBulls, runs like a charm.

Honda or Onan are the only two worth looking at in my opinion,I would buy a used Honda or Onan before I considered anything else.
Check out ebay,I bought more than one over there for my previous employer.
The Onans are just slightly louder than a Honda but will run longer in my experience.
The service contractor I used to work for had dozens of portable generators so I have seen quite a few,the cheaper ones are fine for open areas and limited use.
