Weight Distribution - How to do perfectly?

I use Integy digital weight distribution gauge. Here's the 4 wheels weight of my sd.

LF= 462g -------- RF= 178g
LR= 208g -------- RR= 498g

LF+LR= 670g ------ RF+RR= 676g

I have 28% cross weight [(RF+LR)/total weight]. According to integy worksheet, my car will "push right turn".

If I put more weight on LR and RF, I have to put more than 200g of lead for each. Am I right? How do you guys make your chassis balanced? Is it adjust the droop?

:confused:

i think it is measuring wrong...i dont see how in the world it can come out to those numbers! I got 4 digi scales off ebay that do 1000grams each and comes out pretty close without even tryin to balance... i would check that thing integy thing out...dont sound right!!

Sounds like a big tweak in the chassis, rather that a balence issue.

are there any other ways to measure weight distribution other than the 4 scales method?

Nothing wrong with a little confusion. You would be surprised at some of the people running 50 thousand dollar full scale race cars that dont understand this. First thing to do is set your ride heights, be as precise as you can. Then scale it. first thing to set is front/rear and Left/ right balance. No matter how much you jack on the coilover it wont change these percentages. These have to be set with physical weight placement in the car. I have been running my TC3 with 51% front weight. It all depends on how you drive. More front more steering, more rear more rear traction. Your almost perfect left right and your at 52% rear as it is. alwayse push down on the chassis before you take a weight to settle the suspension.

Once you get that done set your ride heights again. Now this is the part that people dont understand. You can jack your wedge into shape without changing ride heights much. You have to adjust all 4 collars at the same time. What your trying to do is get the front and rear numbers equal. You need weight on the right front so you would put a turn in the RF and LR and take the same amount out of the LF and RR. This will shift the wedge without changing ride height. Dont make big adjustments I wouldnt do more than a turn at a time till I went over, then back 1/2 turn and so on till its right.

Alwayse keep checking ride height if you make alot of changes. With the L/R at 50% and ride height set acurately you shouldnt have to adjust much to get it perfect if those two things are right.

One thing I forgot. Depending on what springs you are using you might have to adjust different. On a full scale dirt car the front springs are twice the rate of the rear springs so you turn the front springs half the amount you do the rear when adjusting wedge. Since the spring is doing twice the work. I never run a big split on a touring car so I adjust them the same. If you have a big split front to rear you might have to adjust how much you adjust each.

This time I loose all the screws and retie them. re-do the ride height.

LF= 406g------RF= 250g
LR= 286g------RR= 424g

Is shock oil or spring have to be same at front and rear?

I would just start adjusting one turn in RF and LR and one out of LF and RR

For onroad the oil and springs have to match on each end front same, rear same.

Aku-Man 04-09-2004 03:35 PM

after adjusting,

LF=368 RF=278
LR=314 RR=368

So, just keep adjusting collars till they all match?

Speedie 04-09-2004 03:40 PM

Yes, once they are even set ride height again. Then adjust again, till ride height is right after it scales right. Its a pain but when its right it will be worth it.

:cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Do I need to add weight to RF and LR to make less adjustment?

Speedie 04-09-2004 03:49 PM

Nope the only thing to add weight for is getting R/L and F/R percentages. All your really doing is setting tweak just alot more accurately.

Thanks SpeediePHATT :p

Not a problem hope it helps. Ive been thinking of getting the Integy weight station, do you like how it works?

Aku-Man 04-09-2004 04:03 PM

I like it, very small, but very very sensitive.
