Here's what they said about the new cell(quote & unquote)

Trinity Announces Sanyo 3600mAh cells!
Sanyo is back on top as the capacity king, with an incredible 3600mAh cell. According to Trinity, the new 'red' cells do not sacrifice voltage for capacity. The Sanyo 3600s will be available as VIS-matched Team and Race packs, as well as VIS– processed (but unmatched) stick and saddle packs. Bulk 3600 cells will also be offered.


I checked TeamTrinity.com but there is no mention of it yet. Plus it will still have to go thru the ROAR approval process which means that it wiill not be legal till 2005 !!!!!

Iam curious to know what numbers these cells will produce.

I've already heard from a good source that they don't have any more run time than a decent GP and the voltage might look ok, but the IR is waaay high. As you already know, IR is much more important to us.

Another quirk that we have to deal with. I remember way back in the days of nicads.....SCR .Red Black....SCE 1400 1700 Panasonic came into the scene.....the dust didn't settle until 2400 .....until then it was just like ....whats next now ?

GP will have to come up with something ....that is a given...so here we go again........whats next ?:cry: :cry: :cry:

I don't think GP has to do anything. If the IR of the sanyo cells is high I couldn't care less about the capacity. Who is going to pay alot more for something that is worse then the current crop of cells? Most people who take care of there GP packs get over 3600+mah anyway.

Who cares what Trinity has. They will abuse us as racers just like before. I will not buy these cells if GP cells are anywhere near the same voltage. We already have 3300's that charge 3600+ with 400+ runtime. Why should people start allowing Trinity to run the prices up again. Also, who really thinks the cells you buy from Trinity are really "virgin" cells. They cycle and repackage everything they sell so that they have the best stuff. Honestly, I will stick to spec racing if the battery war with Trinity starts again. The only way to control prices is not buy their products. I only wish that another company made a good spec battery such as the ex-spec and spec motors. Just blowing off some steam.

i for one believe the stuff the sell (to matchers) are virgin cells. why....because too many people work there for someone not to blow the whistle, because they would be setting themselves up for dozens of lawsuits from people that buy the cells as oem, because oswald acted alone. i do however believe they, as other resellers do, weigh the boxes.

in the end, for stock racing voltage will be king not ir. i never understood why (for stock) so much emphasis was put on ir. i doubt in racing a stock motor ever pulls more than 65-70 amps. if so, it is at extremely low rpm, and for the briefest of times. back in the practical range, the higher voltage is going to provide more 'oomph' for the motor.

i picked up a voltmeter at radio shack recently that has a db9 connection, and came with some software. it's pretty cool because you can record in intervals (by 1, 5, 10 second, etc), the voltage ratings, then plug the #'s into excel for graphing. i'd be very interested to compare the discharge curves of these new cells with my existing gp's.

Gee-Dub, have you ever noticed that the better IR a pack has, the better the voltage numbers are most of the time? Surely you don't think that the IR is low because the voltage is high.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but in stock TC and 12th scale, IR is more important when comparing different make batteries for the simple fact that we don't stay on the throttle 99.9% of the time. Oval is a different story.

BTW- my information comes from matchers that you most likely buy batteries from.

One of the reasons we can't keep mod motors from blowing up is the extremely low IR of new cells. Before there was a "governer" for lack of terms that kind of limited how much current can be taken from the cells. Now that the IR is so low if the motor want it...it takes it and then we blow a motor and wonder why. It actually may be better for current technogy to have a higher IR.
