Our extreme Pit Makeover is about 1/2 done. We ripped it out and started over. Pics coming hopefully by Monday. We're painting today.

If it is anything like your wiring jobs it will be awesome.

Paint is almost dry, we're working on some shelving. I'm actually kind of excited about it. 5 years ago when we put the track up, we threw some little folding tables up, and we've been pitting on them ever since... Not any more.

Need to call our electrician and get some wiring moved, then it'll be about done. each pit has a master on-off switch in it (including it's lights), and then the main pit room will have a master on-off switch for the outlets only. Still have lighting, but last guy out can flick the master and be ensured that no soldering irons are on, etc.

It's not done, but it's close. There are some electrical outlets that still need to be installed. lighting to be re-done, tile on the floor, etc.

But I decided if I wait, this could drag on for months. So here it is, start to finish, about 90% done.

This isn't so much a workspace, as a permanent pit space and work space at our track. I was actually getting kind of frustrated when we started putting stuff back in the room. In a racing situation, you can either put your stuff away or put it where you can get at it. Putting it where you can get at it, clutters the place up... I don't want to walk 30 feet to get my tweak board, etc. So, a lot of stuff stays out.

Bench is about 30 feet long. The opening where the chairs are is 48" Height ended up being 31". If I had it do over again, I'd drop it to 30". I'm happy where it is though. the first shelf above the pit area is for cars that are presently being raced to keep car count and clutter to a minimum. These get cycled out as offroad and outdoor racing hits in the spring along with tires, batterys, motors, etc. Next shelf up is storage, bodys, etc.

These are not the same as the pits we travel to races with. Completely different equipment, These are setup all the time, as is.

We cleaned out the room before somebody said, "we shoulda got a picture of that". So it starts there. Remember, we were basically pitting on those 48" plastic portable tables to start with...

And this is how my personal area turned out. Needs more little shelves, and maybe a 2' extension to the table on the left side. Other than that. I think it's gonna work out just fine.

The lamp
was added to my pit for me, to much laughter by those involved... It was declared "the LEAST MANLY pit lamp EVER", and promptly planted in my pit. I'll get even...just wait.

CRC with a 21.5 for testing in Regina.

I believe the lamp can be purchased at www.sissy.girlyman.lamp.com

Might have a new chassis on the "Tamaray" GT car by then too.
