I believe the Orion is just the older version of the Ctx rebadged.
I have used the older version Ctx (Orion) and the Surikarn version (which i now own) and they are pretty much the same, i think the motor test on the Surikarn is the only real difference apart from the button etc.
Personally i like the Surikarn, but not sure if its worth the extra money.
I can't comment on any others as i haven't used them before, but you could look into the Yokomo MMS which is cheaper than the Ctx's.

I have tried various and have settled for the Yokomo.

I don't have any problems with it, and use it constantly for running my lathe, running in motors, and of course motor testing.

A useful took.

I've just gotten the Orion and it works great. My team mate also is getting one of the orions. I now have a better idea of what I'm doing when I rebuild a motor.

After browsing around, it seems that more people are in favour of Orion Motor Management.
But MR CTX is actually an Evolution of the Orion MM.
But what advantage or new stuff from MR CTX if compared to Orion MM???
Anyone can share info on other MM ?

Are you sure that the CTX is an Evolution of the Orion.. Im sure it is the other way round, since the CTX MM v2 has been available much longer than the Orion MM. The newer CTX MM v3 (which is the picture you posted) was only released this year though.

IF the Orion MM and CTX MM v2 are the same, which i believe they are, then the difference from them to the CTX v3 are the buttons etc, data memory (v2 has 10, v3 has 20), and the v3 has the CTX Test function which just a runs for about 20sec's and starts with 7.2 volts, then slowly steps down the voltage. At the end you get your RPM and Max Amp draw, you can also cycle through and see your Amp draw at each of the different voltages that it runs at.

So do these motor managers just check RPM? They don't tell you torque or Eff.? If thats the case I understand the price a lil more on a fantom dyno.

Here are the details for the CTX v3, there is a demonstration video which shows the Ctx test function + all the other functions.

i think you'll find that MM is the oem for the orion... ive used the MM surikarn... for a laugh try running a low turn motor at 7.2v! i did that with an atlas 8x1... one of the 2 stickers on the sensor flew off at 68K and the reading halved to 34k i thought something drastically bad had happened

(i know its not a good idea to free rev a motor at 7.2v)
