Default Crystal question

Hi there,

This question must have been asked before but I can't find reference to it.

Can I use 75mgz crystals from one brand of radio in another brand. For example, futaba crystal in a hitech or Airtronics or vice versa? Please let me know.

Eric.

From what I remember was that Hi Tech and Futaba do work together but none of the rest do. Now you can mix and match some with some receivers, thats more work then what its worth. So your better off sticking with stock crystals.

in order to assure proper frequency modulation u will want to run whatever the manufacturer sells for there radio...

it may be posible for some to work with others but not for long.. crystals are a goofy thing.. and improper xstal can actually mess up a radio or reciever,, not to mention a car if it goes out of control...

there are some offbrand companies i have seen people buy xstals from.. they were suposed to work with any company. and all of them stopped working after a few times. and or glitched like crazy.... some of them actually messed up the radios to....

there isnt much price difference from company to company so u are better of just getting the proper set....

ive been racing 16+ years and i always buy from the man i have the radio for,, i have yet to have a bad crystal....

same goes with recievers,,, every novak or tekin reciever i ever used lasted maybe a month or so.. i have stuck with the stock recievrs since and have never had a problem... when the radio leaves the factory they are suposed to be factory tuned to there exact specs..

my cars are pretty expensive.. so the extra little i spend to assure a proper working system is way worth the price of r4placing parts after a radio huit into the wall...

just my 2 cents....

I don't know about 75mhz but I bought quite cheap generic xtals for my 27mhz and they've worked great for quite a while now.

Default Crystals

Well thanks to all for the input. I just bought a used M8 and have one crystal set for it and was wondering if I could put the crystals from my Futaba and Hitech. Looks like I should simply go out and buy a set from the manufacturer if I want another set. But it looks like some people have had good results with after market sets.
