Tire Warmer

Which type of tire warmer is better: Velcro or Cup?

If you race outdoor then I don't really see the need. Carpet during the winter you might need them. I've never run in a cold enough temp to need them & the local drivers around here use a bit extra Jack the Gripper to help grip/warm-up in the first couple laps

Have you looked at the Reedy ones?

The Speed mind ones I have are the cup style. They work great but they are a pain in the butt to put on and take off. The Velcro one's I've heard from other drivers don't retain heat as well but they're much easier to use. I have yet to use the one's like Trinity's that are a little looser on the tires and don't fit quite as snug, but I've heard they work the best.

As far as the need for them, there are times when no matter how good of a tire/insert combo you have, it'll take a few laps to get the tires up to temp. Warmers just take care of that for you so you don't have to burn runtime if you're running mod. They are also a huge help at big races when there is a control tire being used. Last year at the Reedy Race we had CS27's premounted and track temps in the 60's and air timeps in the high 50's. Well below the ideal temp for those tires. There was hardly a car in that event that didn't have warmers on their car.

lol, you gotta love not having an indoor track, haha, winter racing, air temp in the 30's and track temp in the high 30s to 40s...and this is in San Antonio, Texas

I'm running outdoor right now. My local, everybody using foam tires. I tried to run with rubber tire.

I'm thinking about getting Alex Racing tire warmer.

Due to season changing, the weather is not very stable here. Last week the air temp is about 70's and this week might be about 50's.
