Speedmind Tyre Warmers
Hey dudes, I am very interested in buying a set of tyre warmers for my range of cars. Now, I have an F201 which is my true race car (very quick) as well as a couple of touring cars and 2 minis!!!

The question I have is this. Can I use Speedmind Tyre Warmers with all of these types of tyres??? Or perhaps the Trinity Tyre Warmers even????

If anyone could help out, I would be very appreciative!!!

The Speedmind warmers are not the 'wrap around' type but a 'cup' that fits over standard touring car tyres. You wouldn't be able to use these with the F201 or the mini. They aren't too good either, I would go fr the Trinity ones if I were you.

I have some for sale if you want them only used once, I moved back to England from Melbourne and they are illegal here!!

Okay, what sort of dollars are we talkin, in AU, inc postage and everything for the Trinity set???

And can you use the Trinitys on the F201 or Mini???

Just checked the price, they are probably only worth $60AU second-hand so shipping them probably wouldn't be worth it, you should be able to pick them up locally, try a wanted ad in rthe Aussie forum.

They will be fine with the mini and the F201.

And this is the Digital Tyre Warmer system isn't it??

JohnA 04-07-2004 06:50 AM

No, this is the older trinity ones without the temperature controls, I think the diital ones are the same style as Speedmind which won't fit the F201.

Tamiya also do some that would work.

So they have to have an exposed end to work on a F201, so that you can wrap it around the tyre with velcro???

Okay, I've only ever seen those a couple of times and I thought that they would be worse because of the exposed ends. Ahh well, I honestly don't know but I guess I can only give it a try.

I just put a touring car tyre next to a F201 tyre, and they are about the same diameter, but they are a wider tyre. Would they still work with the cup style then??? You know, if they are the same diameter. Because the Touring Car Wheel is quite a lot bigger then the F201 wheel, but the tyre is smaller on the Touring car compared to the F201.

Is the diameter the big issue????

What is actually wrong with the speedmind set??? Are they poor in terms of power of heat, or what???

I am a complete newbie to this but I do know that its getting damn cold here and its really affecting the tyres for almost the whole race until they warm up.

So many questions;)

I have not actulaly owned the Speedmind warmers, but people I know have said they don't get hot enough.

Diameter is a big issue with the cup style warmers, they need to be in contact with the whole tyre surface or they won't work. I would suggest wrap round velcro for anything non-standard.

I would also suggest that if your tyres are not gripping for the whole race they are too hot a compound. Try a different rating, ie if you are using CS-27's try CS-22's.

The effect of the tyre warmers only lasts for the first lap or so.

Must do some work now, chat later:)

Okay, thanks for your help. I have been having issues with tyre temperatures for the F1 car, not the touring car. I think that the cup style will be fine to be honest. Every F201 Wheel with tyre I put against a Touring car wheel with tyre looks identical in diameter, its just the width thats the problem.

I think that I might get the trinity Digital system. The Mini is just for my dads car that he owns, so he probably won't be using these babies anyway.

The F1 tires definately don't look like they have a diameter of 63mm .

F. Alonso 04-07-2004 07:24 AM

Why will only one side be warmed up???

Is that the case when you use them with TC Tyres too???

fatdoggy 04-07-2004 07:25 AM

Are the F1 tires 63mm in diameter? They look smaller to me. I could be wrong though...

F. Alonso 04-07-2004 07:28 AM

Well I have put them directly next to a set of mounted Sorex 32s and they look identical in diameter, but the tyres are just wider thats all.

fatdoggy 04-07-2004 07:33 AM

:weird: Sorry about that, they should work fine then, as long as the tire fits all the way in the cups they will heat up. If they hang out a bit it should still be ok since the insert is what holds the heat.
