Questions?? tamiya tt01 spur gear

ok so i saw a thread on the web a few months ago of some one putting an hpi spur gear on a tt01 they had to modify it by taking an old tt01 spur and cutting off the teeth then screwing it to the hpi one i was wondering if any one knows where this was or if some one knows of a different method of putting an aluminum spur gear on a tt01. i was thinking maybe a tb03 spur gear adapter and an aluminum spur gear but dont to buy it if it wont work.
any ideas.

it works great ran one in mine most of the summer last year. you will have to do some math to find out what spur and pinon to run. they must add up to these numbers A 121. B 123. C 125. D 127. here is what i ran for vta 84/39 gives a fdr of about 4.2 in the b spot on the motor mount. if you need any more info pm me. hope this helps.

well im not running a stock kit i have the 3racing carbon chassis so the motor will just slide there arent any hard mounts like the stock motor mount. so you run a tb03 spur adapter or something else?

Modify a TC3.TC4,TC5 or any 1:10th scale car spur adapter to fit the TT01 Tamiya shaft...its a good thing you have the CF chassis with a sliding motor mount because the stock motor mount is stupid-limited... from there you have a lot of options for gear ratios.

The TT02 high speed spur gear set has a spur gear adapter that fits the TT01 w/ NO modifications. You can use Robinson or Kimbrough spur gears or 64 pitch. I have the carbon fiber conversion so I get pinion gear adjust-ability also ! if anyone is interested I'll post pics of it installed it installed.
