Default need advice for short course truck onroad tires

I have a set of older offroad sct tires that I have to figure out how to cut off the knobbies and make them a good pair of onroad racing slicks that I can put sauce on...How should I go about doing this????? Onroad is starting back up in my area and we race sct's and last year there was a guy with onroad tires and i remember he told me that he used a old pair of offroad tires to make them...I can not find that guy so i figure I would ask here.....so what would be the best way to do this??????????
