Thumbs up

Got bored with the Spec or Not to Spec commentary on that other thread.

Let's promote car setups on this thread instead of debating the rules.

makes sense based on their 1/12 tires.

exceed/serpent badged 1/12 tires were jacos when the s120 was first released. now they have a spoked wheel (not prism) with different rubber.(soft medium hard etc instead of pink magenta purple etc)

i gotta say that the jaco spec lilac tires wear like steel! ran the car quite a bit today and i can hardley tell any wear whatsoever. nice to use foam tires that give real good bite and still have killer wear characteristics. the tire also stays good throughout the run. if you flip the body over after running a heat there is practically no tire shed on the bottom of the body. my 12th scale would have been covered. i ran the blackstock setup from the Ae website from the IIC. worked very well, a little too aggressive now and then, it did traction roll once or twice...but i was charging very hard into some of the hair pin corners to make it do that. i was turning faster lap times than most of the touring cars running 2s lipos!

Here at our track, one guy brought one in and now several other guys have them and it may really take off. i always loved 10th scale pan cars back in the late 80's and early 90's, they just died off for whatever reason. i am stoked about this revival myself. the one thing i dont like is the 1S lipo thing. i would just love to have just alittle more voltage to play with. the A123 battery would be sweet in one i think, i read somewhere on here from one of the aussies, that they use them, and they fit into the battery slot for a 4 cell, and get 6.6v. if i knew the batts they are using i would pick up a set for fun.
Maybe get in touch with this guy regarding running the A123s in 12th/WGT.

Don't know if he's one of the aussies though...

Cheers

True.

I think, good to have a non-brand-specific thread for WGT.

Sure do buddy. I run the HPI one here : http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKAX1&P=SM
though I'm sure most would recommend the protoform.

I'm going to buy another one just so I can do one in this colour http://www.z06zone.com/2006Corvette-C6-Z06-006.jpg

Default WGT!!!

Yup, thats how i feel about WGT. Last summer i was one of the first if not the first to put it down on asphalt at my local track. We eventually had 4-5 every week and had a blast running them. I couldnt wait for winter because i knew we would have more guys running them on carpet. Guess what? We had less. Every week i brought mine out and ran laps. Little by little people showed up with one and now with 4 weeks left inside we had 8 cars!!!
Part of the problem is people think the tires are $$$. Ive had lots of 12th scale guys say "i cant afford those tire". Bulls!!t. Not sure about most of you but i cut mine to 54mm to start and 4 weeks later im at 51mm. 4 weeks on $25 worth of tires is not bad at all. 12th scale has 20+ entrees and youre lucky if you get a race day out of them. Better not chunk them.
Don't get me wrong, i like 12th scale.
Did i mention maintenance? No, because their is almost none. What other class can you get to the track, charge, sauce and run week to week?
The one thing you have to do the most and keep setting ride height, and checking tweak, big deal.

I'll stop my ranting now. Lets talk some setup!!! I run a crc genx10

I just built a 10r5 and put Andrew Doughtery's setup from the team associated site and first run out it was a joy to drive and cant wait to drive it again. I too am trying to get them going at my home track, but with only a few months left in the carpet season we will see what happens.

What kind of rollout for a 1S lipo with 17.5BL setup? What should be the starting point? This would be for an outdoor dedicated sealed asphalt track, with a long layout, where you could spend about half of the time doing straights and the other half in infield slow turns.

You need to specify your ESC for anyone to help with a non-standard setup (i.e. the 17.5). Big rollout difference between say an LRP SPX and a Tekin RS.

Thanks. I am using the LRP TC Sphere competition with a 17.5 Duo2.

My initial guess for gearing was about 75.5 mm rollout. So I am not far off from your suggestion. Thanks!
