Tried both front ends, I use the old skool one. Set it and forget it. I had to make a camber shim out of paper, but once its there, the tires always wear even and it never goes outa whack. If I need more steering, I use a stiffer center spring.

New 12th scaler!
well.... this is a new area of the forum for me.
I've been looking to runa second class for a while, so I've just purchased a CRC 3.1R for under £50. Thing is I've never driven a 12th scale before.... oh well, nothing like jumping in the deep end! I've got some battery packs I'm gonna convert to 4 cells, so it should be a lot of fun... looking forward to it now. Guess I'll be in and out of here on a regular basis, gonna need lots of help to get this one up and running, having been a die-hard TC racer for so long. Any tips from the off i should be looking at? I think my main Q would be regarding servos, whats a decent one, that won't cost the earth (err and will fit ;) )? Also regarding reciver packs, any specific thigns i shold be looking for? and do I deffiently need to run one? (I'll be using an LRP v7.1 for the mean time... yes it's big, but still a bloody good speedo!) Anyway, catcha later Ed |
Ed,
I use a Futaba S9650... got it threw Tower hobby... or one of those mail order places for $55.00 USD last year... Never run a reciever pack... If my car needs one I'm going to slow and don't have enough power left....lol... Wayne |
thanks for th equick response there wayne.
I've just been doing some looking, and I noticed that Hi-Tec do a very cheap, and lightweight servo (the HS-81MG). I was wondering if this whether this would be suitable for 12th scale? the only problem i can see is that it doesn't have ball bearings in it, and possibly its durability in the car (it's quick, a 0.09sec, and torque seems good). Anyway, I've got some spare packs of 6cell GP3300's here, that i'm gonna break up to make into 4cell packs, so that sort out batteries, i guess for now i'll leave it without a reciever pack. Ed |
Ed - Forget Hitec, you'll just have to upgrade. Futaba, ko, airtronics, JR are the brands of servo that you want to look at. I bought Hitec a while back and am in the process of getting a new servo...
|
Ed,
Fatdoggy is correct... The hitec is not the best choice... I have 2 here that wouldn't center in my 1/18 car! Wayne |
ok, I'll take that onboard, and go for something else ;)
|
Yup those hitecs arent too reliable. You can also go with the non-digital futaba the 9602. Which is like the little brother to the 9650.
|
Hitecs are good for one thing...sitting on the shelf waiting for someone else to buy one. The Jr 3550 is also a good choice. or the KO 949

Anyone using the KO 947? Is it any good?
|
i believe the 947 is the 949 without the ics

if you don't have the programmer, the ics is not much use for you. Basically it is the technology that allos you to program the servo or speedo or radio from a hand held programmer or computer.
