Tire Diameter

I am getting into 1/12th scale again. I raced it probably about 10 years ago and after an unsuccessful attempt to get Micro racing in the area I am trying out 1/12th again. It always was my favourite type of racing.

Anyway on to my questions. What is a good tire diameter to start with for local club racing? I know what size they use at the big races (approx 1.9" rear and 1.7" front) but can you start a little bigger and still have a good handling car?

Could someone also suggest a good starting rollout for a 19 turn motor. The track is 60 x 60.

Thanks

Bob Zahn

dtm-what is that rear pod off of, it pretty cool lookin:cool:.

Here in MN we've all started running stock, which I can't really object to, since my batteries are still competitive, and I can actually compete with the faster guys who were killing me in mod, plus its easier on my old hotrod too. It's nice to have everyone getting along and racing cleanly, and each guy is just as fast as the next, its all in setup.

i just finished building my rc12l3 except for one thing. my hitec servo doesnt seem to be wide enough to reach across the mounts. anyway should i just drill and countersink a new hole in the chassis or is there some other way that im not seeing.

ausracer: which model of servo do you have?

RCsilly 12-30-2002 07:21 AM

Hey DTM ,

Hey you guys, any of yall racing in the US Triple Crown Series? If so, tell about your experiences. If any of you are PLANNING on racing in one of the last two or three stops for that series tell where

I had the same problem with a JR servo I bought. If you want to drill a hole in the chassis then that will work. Another option is just to use servo tape and mount the server directly on the chassis.

Triple Crown

Ill be @ Tauton, MA, racing both 1/12th stk and 1/10th stk. I race a Six Pack and a Mission. Anyone else.?:D

Jeff Werner 12-30-2002 08:43 PM

Vr6, where we race it is all tc3 and XxX-s on carpet. How does the Mission hold up against the two in your experience? Have you raced it on concrete or ashpalt?

Any info would be great!

The left one is a Yokomo one (I think) the right is just an AE version....I managed to strip a screw in the Yok motor mount plate but managed to find an AE replacement hidden away in the corner of an RX shop somewhere!:D

Its because of the rear pod that I keep running the car......the new ones simply look MASS produced!!

Also the original graphite damper plate had slots cut into it like the lower graphite plate....alas...this has died!:(

ausracer: yep drill a hole about .25"/4-5mm inside the existing hole, make sure to keep the output shaft of the servo on the centerline of the chassis, I put 225mgs in 10L3t/12L3 this way
