Ziplock bags and out of sunlight seems to work well but if you want something fancy you could also go this route:

ziplock bags for what? Because we add compounds to them?

Foam tires, unlike rubber tires, are not sold in air tight packaging. I figured this was done for a reason.

Ture. But do you realize how much crap clings to those tires?

Which is odd because foam tires do have an issue with drying out and rubber tires not so much but can as well. Generally it is better if you store any kind of tire in some sort of air tight container. Especially if you will be storing them for more than a few weeks.

That is what I mean. Should they be air tight because of what gets added to them?

I recently bought a bulk amount of tires. I won't be using many of them for quite some time. Sealing these new unused tires kinda puzzles me. I guess it is better safe than sorry, but how long do you guys think new un sold tires sit on shelves and warehouses?

I recently got back in after racing in the mid 90's. Broke out some old foam tires that were stored in a cardboard box. Saused them up and raced. They still worked.

I use Muddslide tire cleaner and get them good and clean and then I put them in a tennis ball container. Has always worked great for me.
