comm lathe best for the money
i am looking to get a comm lathe and would like to know which is the best for a resonable cost. i was looking at the trinity but your opinions will be helpful

Hudy Tech lathe is sturdy and true. It's a bit more but definitely worth it!

Best for the money is the Integy Eagle MOD lathe. I got mine for about $90 bucks shipped from R&L Hobbies. It has the carbide V-Blocks which are the latest and greatest to have on your comm lathe and can use a bit for either side. Also the carbide bit that comes with it seems to cut for a long time.
Don't get a diamond bit, they can chip VERY easily and you will just cut comms out of round and not know what the problem is as it will still have that great finish. When a carbide bit gets dull, it will make the finish look dull. You can always just resharpen the bit or get a new one as they are really cheap. go to www.bigjimracing.com to in the tips section and read about carbide vs diamond.

Slightly off topic... but whats the difference between mod and stick comm lathes? are the stock ones for NON rebutldable motors or what. thanx

The cobra lathe is it man! Comes with diamond bit and I believe either stormer or sheldon hobbies has them for $156.00.

how do you know if your lathe is coning your comm.?
im not sure if mine is because it usually takes a deeper cut around the brush contact area so i cant make out if its the wear or the lathe.
