Hello

I have a question for the SWEEP boys.

We are running QTS 36, pink insert on sweep wheels as our control tyres (France), at the beginning of the year we all hated these tyres with not much grip and attrocious wear (4/5 runs max and bin) even heated and treated.

But since June and new sets bought, the grip and wear is much better.

Were they some changes in rubber during that period?
Rims are way too soft, shame.

Since we have decided to move to Sorex 36 which wear very well, it is a shame in some way as your tyres came good lately.

Looking forward to your answer

I`m driving touring modified on a large outdoor asphalt track, traction is low-medium, smooth surface

need a tire setup that is durable and lasts longer than 5 packs

what do you recommend? (tire and insert)

In most cases, the Sweep EXP 36 premounts work really well. On smoother, sealed surfaces or on carpet they hold up quite well. One my home tracks is quite abrasive, so it will tend to make these wear a little faster than desired though. The new OG spec tire is a good alterative in those situations. Its a slightly harder compound and carcass design, so I provides a smidge less grip (but still very good) for an extended period of time.

Hope that helps!!!

Think of the EXP tires as a little less grip than a premium tire, but WAY more grip than a spec tire, with durability somewhere closer to the spec.

In my experience, the Sorex can't be beat for grip, but the EXP30 wins in the durability category. The Sorexs will be great, then drop off rapidly after 10-12 runs, where as the EXP30s will only have about 90% of the grip of a sorex, but will maintain that grip level for 20 runs or more.

All things being equal on that, remember! Set up your car for the grip level afforded to you by the tire.

R's are cheaper, last a lot longer, might be a bit taller, and don't have as much grip. Korey would say they understeer. I've only tried R40, but I want to try R36.

My car/setup/driving seems to eat EXP36's alive, bad graining and groove of death. Even EXP40's seem to wear faster than I want. If I dial back the camber to 1* (most people are running 2* at that track), it seems to even out the wear a bit better. Another thing I want to try is EXP with more insert to support the tire better.

OG are newer, but they're a spec-oriented tire. Scroll up to Korey's post.

Here in the US, I don't think Sweep USA ever brought in the QTS36 compound tires. Just 28 and 32, so I really have no experience with them. We use the QTS 32s on carpet with great success, but I have no tired them on asphalt. I mainly stick with the EXP series most of the time.

Default EXP 36E and air gap

I've been having a problem with the 36E pre-mounts over heating during the hot summer afternoons. I read elsewhere that running a tire with some air gap will not only allow a tire come up to temperature quickly but also helps the tire from over heating. Is this true?

Also, I noticed that the Sweep tires are available in three different diameters, R's, EXP, and QTS. Would I adjust the amount of air gap by using different tire diameters in combination with the Sweep inserts? Others such as Sorex offer adjustability in air gap through the use of inserts with different thickness. Are all the Sweep inserts available in only one thickness?
