Do they use the standard universals?
Good to see some action in this thread given the renewed interest in this class, well at riverstone anyway.
The sabre is progressing well, had a good session with it today. Was a lot more stable than friday night. The rear is a bit skiddish in the corners a bit like how a mini does.

Has anyone tried the tamiya fast gear set? gave it a test run the other day, and was underwealmed by it. It lasted 9 laps at sma and melted. Chucked in a second set, checked the mesh and ran it around at home, and pffft melted again. Going back to top parts

Melting the gear set? What motor/esc are you using? What size pinion? I have been using the 3racing gear set in mine for a few weeks now.

was running 13t hobbywing setup, 35A esc, 22 pinion. Was wierd to say the least, i thought the tamiya speed gears would have held up, but two sets and they be gone. Have loaded top gears back in it and up the spur gear and its running fine.

Try a bigger pinion?
The reason why they are called fast gear sets as it allows you to put a larger pinion inside a tl01 or a mo3/5. Changing to these gears has the sam effect as putting in a smaller spur gear in a tc.
If your changing the 37t spur gear with a say 33t spur gear from the fast gear set then it allows the use of a larger piniOn.
I am using a 30t pinion with a 13.5 in blinky mode.

there are a bunch of us running them at Riverstone Each Friday, and have started to get them going very quick,
We need to get larger Pinions in the car to make them Quick enough for TITC currently I have a 29T with the standard gearing, but I have ordered a set of HPI gears 30T-35T to go even further:
these are the numbers if yo want to order them,
HPI 88030 Pinion Gear 30T 0.6m
HPI 88031 Pinion Gear 31T 0.6m
HPI 88032 Pinion Gear 32T 0.6m
HPI 88033 Pinion Gear 33T 0.6m

here is my sabre, i like it every much. i also bought the new gear differentail as well and try to put it on the car, however, after i installed, i find out that the unverisal joint(46mm) was abit too long for it which affect the smoothest of the suspenion, i think the new gear diff. need a shorter joint, anyone have same experenice of it?

Sabre motor bracket. Just filed to make it work. I also polished it a little.TA05 spur gear holder fits right into the center gear and locked with pins. It is also riding on the stock Sabre gear shaft. The suspension arm moves freely up or down for travel and the steering clears by shimming it up a little with the aluminum upgrade steering hub.
