FREAKAH - i'm not sure what your talking about. Solaris tires (HARD Premounts to be exact) have been rolling well all summer long outdoors. On the East Coast we have been running them at Jackson RC Racing (jacksonrcracing.com) and Trains & Lanes ... while on the west coast they have been the tire choice for the Reedy Race and Roar 2010 Asphalt Nats. Both of these east coast tracks do not see temps like you mentioned, and they are treated with a 50/50 mixture of grape soda and water.

These tires are a great spec tire... but they have no where near the grip of Sorex's (and no where near the cost). They require a different setup to start handling correctly -- and without a doubt are slower as compared to Sorex or softer Sorex-like tires. These tires don't fall off quickly... and will run strong until the insert is showing.

I'll agree with him in 90 percent of what he said but at our biggest race this summer the track was over 140 for most of the day on Sat and Sunday and the tires still worked well.

Solaris will be the spec tire at the upcoming Timezone Gran Prix Oct 8,9,10, 2010. we are looking forward to using the tire and will be getting them in the "black" spoke wheel.... looking good.

Thanks to EJ and also Top Racing USA for the support of our event.

We've had good luck running them on carpet. What compound will you be going with? We use medium around here and the setups end up comparable to what we use with Jaco blue. A little less steering mid-corner but more grip overall. Here's a video from a recent race using them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHdwLxJ0iI8.

We ran these tires at the North Carolina State Race and the Jackson NJ East Coast Race of Champions. They worked well and tire wear was pretty good. Our track allows open tires, so there are alot of Sorex and RPs at the track. I still run the Solaris Hards and keep up pretty well. Fast laps with Sorex are 16.0-16.5 depending on driver. I'm running 16.3 with Solaris. They are not as fast as Sorex, but they are half the price.

Bingo!

Like I mentioned, our track is un-treated.

freakah, what track do you race at? 99% of the time I recommend our Hard compound tires on asphalt opposed to our Soft and Medium. But if the grip level is really low maybe the Medium compound is better suited.

Our tires are a "spec" tire, not meant to compete against high end tires such as Sorex.

I will send you a set of Medium compound tires. I've PM'd you for your info.

Thanks,

EJ

I race at the same track as Freakah, but I feel the Solaris tires can work at our track. I ran the SJR 36's in the qualifier and turned a fast lap of 13.0. In the first main I switched to the Solaris M tires and was able to turn a fast lap of 13.6. Although it was .6 slower I feel with a little chassis tuning I could make most of the time up. The tire wear was good and for the price you can't beat it.
