Default Reedy Quasar Pro

Got mine about a week ago. Works good so far. Stays cool, no false peaks, user freindly, loud audible tone, accurate readings. I like it. Anyone else got one? Find anything wrong yet? I am charging 3000HV @ 7mv @ 6.0 amps. Works good.

Default Good to see you on here!

So you are collecting up a bunch of new gear. Very cool.

Question, Since it will do Nimh, will it also do AAA Nimh? Just got a couple of Mini Zs, and I think that I am scared already of the Nimh and the slow charger that will be coming with them.

Default Quasar Pro

Just got one this weekend. Seems to do a great job. I really like it. As for the AAA no problem.. You can just lower the amp rate to <1. It is all adjustable.

I got mine last week... had to send it back to AE for replacement.
Software was acting up. It would shut itself off when I want to change view screens and sometime it would lock-up and can't change any setting without unplugging the unit. and then I get this average volts reaching at higher than 60volts! and the lower half of the LCD panel would dissapear. and dingbat text would sometimes show up, and . . . .

AE costomer service was great. Just send it back and I'll get a new one. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the new one.

When it did work.. it worked great. and yes it will charge AAA nimh cells. The audible tone is way too loud. When I get it back, I'm just going to open up the case and put a piece of tape over it to tone it down. (of cource after the Warrenty expires)

I believe the Quasar Pro is made from Integy. Functions are identicle to the 16X5 that I also own. If this is the case... the optional backlit module available from the Integy website can be installed. I'm going to order one and try it. The only advantage over the 16X5 is that you can turn trickle off 0.0mv. and very compact no external power supply needed.

The Quasar Pro is probably the best charger on the market today.
It does everything.

Looks like I'll be getting the Quasar Pro... The only thing I don't like about my 16x5 is the after charge trickle.

I haven't seen any problems at all. Really like it. Let me know about the backlit addition. It should depend on what kind of LCD is in there. You bascially need to supply 5v to 2 pins put a pot on 1 and get a contrast control. As for Speaker. Yea really loud. I was thinking about opening up and seeing if there was a pot for that too.

Sounds like it is a good charger. What amp rate can it charge up to? The only thing that sounds bad about it is it can only discharge up to 20 amps, but that is a small price to pay considering the difference in price between it and the T35.

Something is wrong with my T35 It has about 3 differnt tones, and randomly changes between them...heh.

The new version pro trak has programable tones that uses the same code as nokia mobile phones so you can have the same tone on your charger as you do on your mobile

I don't own a Quasar Pro... but personally, I think the fact that it can only charge up to 6.5 A is a problem. Right now, people are advocating the use of 7 A or so for Sanyo HVs. That's stretching the Quasar, surely. And what about other cells that will will be released in the future? Just my 2 cents...

I just received the replacement Quasar Pro I sent back for repairs last week. and guess what... It's still broke... Now it won't even power up. I guess I'm going to send it back again for a refund.
I just ordered the Integy 16X9 from Stormer for only $30.00 more.
that has the same features, but w/backlit display, has an internal 14amp power supply that can also power another accessories like another dc charger, dyno, tire warmers etc.

I used to own the 16x5 which is pretty much identical in functions as the 16x9 but power supply is built in. I never had any problems with the 16x5. I've also had there other chargers also the 16x2.5pro with no problems. I think I'm going to have better luckl with the Integy 16X9. Let you know how it turns out.
