TC3 Graphite Chassis, Best Aftermarket model?
#48

Thanks all.
Now just got to work alittle on the wife
( she's a good woman, very cool about my racing and even would do some if she had the chance! )
Few more questions about the BMI racing chassis.
1. Are the nerf wings that important to get, do they actually protect from side impacts by extending past the wheels or is that just for show? Please post pick if you have them on your vehicle to see how far they stick out.
2. Will all the standard upgrades for the TC3 work, in particular I run an aftermarket front bumper by BRP.

The only parts that are different from the TC3 is the motor mount. Everything else will fit.
Are you thinking of a colored chassis of a black one? Also if your going to race it on carpet you might want to think about a thicker 3mm upper deck as well. Standard is good but stiffer is better. Instead of nerf wings maybe put that to the new BMI shock towers soon to be released.

I've been following this thread as I'm also looking at getting a carbon fiber chassis soon. I've got a racer kit so I have a lot to gain by switching to a stiffer chassis.
Now that I'm getting a bit better at driving I'm noticing how my car reacts when I goof up the tweak or when I have the tweak as close as possible with a left side heavy stock chassis, I'd like to switch to a new chassis. Plus I'm too lazy to mill my chassis and since it's only the composit one it would be a bit silly not to get the graphite tub chassis... and I might as well move up to carbon fiber if I do that.
If any of you have a used chassis I could try just drop me a PM. I've been looking at the Warpspeed D1 (but it's a bit out of my price range), the BMI (my favorite so far), and xtreme.
I'm curious how much weight the outside rails add to the xtreme chassis. Seems like all the exrta support posts would be a bit heavy.
Anyways... if you have a used one for sale (i'm a cheap bastard) drop me a line.
thanks

Definately. But in some cases you get what the marketing folks want you to pay for. I'm not saying this is the case but more expensive is not always better.

From what I have read on the WarpSpeed thread (and I've read a lot of it) I would agree. But, in my case, it's just out of my budget. So... unless somebody has a hand-me-down D1 chassis I'm probably just out of luck.
Unless.... where did I put that ski mask and imitation glock squirt gun.
BTW... Good luck to all the folks going to the ROAR Carpet Nationals.

hey guys,
i am jason from bmi racing.i always have a few chassis kits that have minor defects that i sell at a discounted price.usually it is a small cosmetic flaw in the carbon fiber.being that my quality standards are very high, this kind of defect is not acceptable for me to release to the public without selling as a defect.they are all fully functional and there is no loss in performance.you actually do not see the defects after assembly.if anyone is interested, feel free to drop me a pm.i have 1 blue one and 1 titanium one left.i will tell you exactly why it was rejected.
thanks,
jason

Hey Stan! You used my name!
I think I will go with the BMI Chassis since it looks to be more in my price range. I think I will also not get the nerf wings at this time, I do hit the boards, but I think I can rig up some that will work from some BRP wings ( just trim the sides ) and it will work out alittle cheaper for me. ( I am a budget guy ).
I figure with the BMI chassis, I should be more up to date against the XRAYS ( STAN!!! ) and other vehicles out there.
protc3, I sent you an pvm on the defect chassis kit, very interested.
