Our Havoc 1S system was not designed as a match for high-end escs; the entire Havoc 1S sensored BL system is offered for 159.99. This controller includes our SmartBoost circuitry, so a new racer, who wants race in local, single-cell events can get set up for an affordable price.

Getting beginners involved in R/C without busting the budget is the whole point of this system.

I had one club night, and one regional on mine before 'lights out'. It did it once to me when out of town. I turned it off, and back on 30 minutes later and it worked fine. This time the reboot didn't work. The BEC is still functioning though. Just no lights or throttle response.
I had the same problem with mine, I ended up sending it back to Novak for repair/evaluation; you may want to do the same.

IMO, the Novak Havoc w/SS motor is the answer to true stock racing.

Comparing apples and oranges (pun intended) will not work unless you are comparing equal types of ESCs. As Novak Two stated Havoc is sport and would not be equal to the performance of the higher line (higher cost) ESCs.

I have three XBRs, one Havoc, and two GTBs. All have performed well in their various installations including 1/10th, 1/12th, and Slash 13.5 brushless. I expect the Kinetic to be more than equal to the other high line ESCs. But, I don't need that much ESC.

Here's some pics of the controller mounted on my RC10L. The 1s battery is on one side and the controller, capacitors and receiver on the other. I had to add a 7 gram weight to get the left to right weight nearly even. Hope to run it next weekend.

Wires easily clear the P905B body I run.

Mods include updated to Assoc dynamic strut front suspension with IRS caster blocks, IRS Macro shock, Niftech left rear pod plate, Lunsford king pins and axles and WGT spec lilac tires.

Cool install photos--I'm forwarding them around the building. It looks like the esc fits, even with the regular HS installed. Let us know if you use the LP version.

Glad you liked the photos. This is an Assocciated RC10LS pan car (old) that I plan on racing in the World GT class thats getting started at my track.

Once the LP heat exchanger arrives I'll move the equipment to my BMI DB12RR, a bit tighter fit. I'll post some pictures.

anyone got some performance info of the system?

I wouldn't mind trying 1/12 in a cheap form, or even that whole WGT thing.

Who knows, maybe a timingless ESC thing for stock 1/12 could be the way to go as others have mentioned and is being done in USVTA?

Our original intent in designing this affordable 1S system was attracting more racers to single cell events. We hoped that the price of this entire system (159.99-no booster or receiver pack necessary) plus the price of a single cell pack would be inviting enough to interest new customers in taking a chance to compete---at least at the local level.

This would be a win-win-win-win. A win for the customer in obtaining electronics at an affordable price; a win for the hobby shop/track owner in getting new customers interested in racing; a win for the R/C hobby in increasing sales/interest; and a win for Novak.

Are there any 1S events that outlaw boost, etc. Basically the stuff that makes the higher end items really stand out? to me at least, having ESCs available for 1S usage that don't have boost etc could be quite beneficial for stock classes.

Its too bad the track that is opening up soon is not allowing lipo for there legends class. I think it would be cool to run a 1S lipo and 17.5 motor with a non timing boost ESC versus the 4cell Nimh / 27T setups they are allowing . Just can see about going back to nimhs!

Are you guys thinking of doing a 1S kinetic?

Perhaps I'm missing something, but what other classes besides 1/12th scale and WGT run 1S lipo? To me, it seems neither of these classes are very "beginner" friendly and not due to a steep equipment price.

maybe this is an opportunity of sorts. have a class option where it would be like VTA, but with 1/12 or WGT?

I don't race VTA but doesn't one of the allowable motor battery combos allow a 1s battery? Something like a 21.5 BL and 1s?

VTA allows 21.5 BL motors w/2S lipo batteries.
