Default Motor Dynos...

Just looking for feeback on motor dyno's...

Does anyone have this particular model:

INDI Motor Dyno (0.7V 10A: MAX) part# E2009

It's relatively inexpensive and seems to do a good job of reading rpm and amp draw...

They are "ok"..

I would consider it more of a motor checker than a dyno though.

I agree, I had one for a while. It does tell you the amp draw of the motor, not much help. It does give you a free rev rpm, this might help if you have several motors to see which one is better, but not much help in tuning. I sold mine and got another pulsar for about the same price. It has a motor run feature and i can hear a difference in rpm. Although I now also have a robi, nothing like it for testing though, and its much more expensive.

To me the Indi Dyno is great. But thats my opinion. Not everyone can afford a robi or Fantom. But you get what you pay for. Mostly I use the Indi Dyno to power my Lathe and break in my motors. Its also small enough to take to the track. I use it to check the condition and Rpm before and after I cut the comm.

I also use it.... and think it's great for operating a lathe and using it for motor break in.....but to try to use any of the information it gives to try and tell which motor will perform better on the track is pretty much worthless sence all of its readings are derived from a no load condition......but for 85.00 or so... what can we expect
