Default Tekin RS or LRP SXX?

Hi,

I'm trying to update my electronics. I noticed a lot has changed lately and that my Novak GTBs are completely out of date for racing.

I've heard a lot about the Tekin RS with the new software. I've also heard some good stuff about the LRP. Pricewise they're both about the same price if you consider that you must buy the PC interface for the Tekin RS to download the new software. So which one is better and why?

I'm looking to use it to race BL 17.5 TC.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Not too many people have run the SXX Stock Spec yet so I think it's going to be hard to compare the two at this point. Let's say for arguments sake that they are both exactly the same speed. You will have two camps arguing points that are both valid: Tekin offers free firmware upgrades that could keep you competitive longer without upgrading the hardware, and the LRP offers plug and play speed that you don't have to tinker with via a Hotwire and many different settings.

I don't have Tekin RS but I will highly recommend it. On our track all Amain racers (17.5 TC) use it and with new software and advanced adjustment, your 17.5 will run like 13.5

As said above, both have their merits. For me though it has to be the Tekin due to the free updates and the quality of support from both the company and people on these forums.

Have a look at the review here to see if helps you to make up your mind.

Unquestionably, go for the Tekin.
Simply awsome especially with the new 203 software.

It's all about personal taste. Listening to everyone just makes it harder to buy. Just pick a color and get that one I'm partial to Blue.

I have used LRP speedos since they first came out, and I love them dearly. Even today, I cannot beat the feel of an LRP speedo, their simplicity of set-up and their reliability. However...

If I had stuck with LRP for the last two years in BL, I would by now be on my fourth speedo - at an average of $250 each!! I did buy two (Sphere 2007 and Stock Spec) but seeing what Tekin were doing, I bought an RS for my spare car. I am so pleased with it that I have changed to the RS for my main car, and sold my Stock Spec.

Both the GM and AE BD do software updates, but they charge and you send the speedo back to them.

I would love to run LRP again, but I just can't afford it any more. For the average Joe, the Tekin is cheaper to buy in the first place, and gets software updates for free, too. For me, it's currently a no-brainer. HTH

Think of it this way:

When the SXX Stock Spec comes out - if it happens to be faster than the Tekin - give it a month or two and Tekin will roll out v20X software to match or beat the SXX.

If the SXX happens to be slower than the current Tekin -well , there's not much you can do.

It took more than a month or two for the Tekin to catch up (and it just surpassed) to the SPX. But still, a very valid point.
