Schumacher Corner
On RCtouring.com this was by far the best thread, with lots of info. Lets start it up again

AE_Racer 08-20-2001 01:15 PM

I asked before and I never really got a response..Is the SST 99 Pro a good car? as in competitive against Pro 3s, XXX-S's etc? Thanks

Radweld 08-20-2001 02:30 PM

Well im here, for a while anyway! I helped kick off the Schumacher thread on RCT.

The SST99 is still a very fast car when set up right! The Axis and Axis 2 are a little easier to dial in but in the right hands, the 99 Pro can compete at a high level.

You dont need the latest plastic, just be happy with what you have.:D

AE_Racer 08-20-2001 04:09 PM

Oh, ok...anybody else?

MattW 08-20-2001 05:55 PM

The 99 pro is still a good car. As to whether it could be competetive with the newest cars then i doubt it. Although i suspect that it could with the addition of Axis 2 suspension parts - hubs and bulkheads in particular

AE_Racer 08-20-2001 06:24 PM

Ok thanks

ovalnator 08-20-2001 09:56 PM

I know its not a TC, but anybody have any good info on the Cougar 2000 team car???

Caddzilla 08-21-2001 05:18 AM

I would say that with my 99 Pro it is a good 3rd or 4th place car at our track. Somedays a little better and others not so good. But I think it is only about 25% car and 75% driver that puts you in the winners circle. The best car in the world can't make up for limited driving skills on the track.

MattW 08-21-2001 05:13 PM

ovalnator -what do you want to know??

ovalnator 08-21-2001 07:12 PM

Where I can get the press on drive hexes for the rear of the car

MattW 08-22-2001 05:02 PM

They can be replaced with the steel ones from the Fireblade EVO/Cat 3000, so they should be available from any model shop.

ovalnator 08-23-2001 07:31 AM

oh really?? I measured them and they are like 16 mm or something and press on and I figured the new ones would be like the touring car ones

Corey Bernardo 08-23-2001 09:55 AM

Well I just wanted to activate my new account with RC TECH!!:)

Ty 08-23-2001 10:27 AM

Does Racer X know about this site? I saw him posting on rcracing.com. Someone should let hime know..

Taz_S 08-23-2001 10:38 AM

If i see Racer X i tell him.

Taz_S 08-23-2001 10:51 AM

I just e-mail Racer X and hope he find his way here.

Racer X 08-23-2001 12:16 PM

Uhhh, what the heck happened?

Taz_S 08-23-2001 12:19 PM

that the $64,000 dollar question?

good to see you here RX

Racer X 08-23-2001 01:31 PM

Taz: Thanks for the email. RCTouring was here one day and gone the next...no warning or anything. I figured another bad upgrade (like what happened several months ago) and the board would be back in a few days. Withdrawal was beginning to set in when you came to my rescue. Thanks and hello everyone!

Taz_S 08-23-2001 01:33 PM

yea Withdrawal do hurt alot.

So RX you racing this weekend?

Racer X 08-23-2001 02:18 PM

I race every weekend (I can). I'll be out...

Racer X 08-23-2001 02:20 PM

Arg, a rookie again. I had over 500 posts on the old board and now I'm a rookie again (and now I'm up to 7)

Taz_S 08-23-2001 02:21 PM

yea you a Rookie just wait to you become a Hacker :weird:

Taz_S 08-23-2001 07:08 PM

yea but it not fun being a hacker.

Racer X 08-24-2001 10:29 AM

Still better than being a rookie...:(

Taz_S 08-24-2001 10:50 AM

yea that for sure. :(

Corey Bernardo 08-24-2001 08:00 PM

just wandering if everyone is still running 3mm of droop in there cars front an rear? For running on asphat that is.

Radweld 08-25-2001 02:51 PM

I run 3mm.

Have the KO GP in London tomorrow, two days, 170 drivers, should be a laugh!

Wish me luck!

Taz_S 08-26-2001 03:15 PM

Good luck and tell us how it went.

Racer X 08-26-2001 09:58 PM

Currently, I'm only running about 2mm droop with my setup.

Corey Bernardo 08-27-2001 09:29 AM

cool thanks RacerX! I was running about 3mm f/r, but the car felt weird so I backed it off to 2mm and its great again.....

My problem was turning to the right it was coming around but to the left it was planted! I totally fixed the problem on those new IRS 4 digital scales for each tire. I highly reccomend using that instead of a tweak board! Only thing is its about 300 bucks! lol

PaulP 08-27-2001 11:15 AM

Hi Guys

well after a break from R/C racing for a while I am back. What has been new with the schuie's I hope my Axis 2 will still kick butt.

What can people tell me about this new CS speedo? I am in need of a new one and was thinking about getting an LRP7.1

any new tricks with set-up that one should be aware of? a lot of information prob got lost when RCTouring went down.

PS has the schuie webpage changed?

Well talk to you all soon

Racer X 08-27-2001 11:37 AM

Paul: Your A2 should still kick butt. I can't tell you anything about the CS stuff other than it can be hard to get at times. Most people are using either the LRP Quantum or 7.1, , Novak TC, or the Keyence Zero Extreme ESCs right now. In the next post I'll put my current setup...

Racer X 08-27-2001 11:51 AM

My current setup:

Asphalt board track, high bite and smooth

Ft and rear: 70wt, 2hole, red spring, center hole on shock tower, inner hole on arm, in line hub, 1.5 camber, lower bulkhead mounts.

Ft: 10d camber, rear steering holes, C/F chassis (lowered front end), 2mm droop, diff one way

Rear: 2d rear toe, raised C/F rear end, 2mm droop.

PaulP 08-27-2001 12:47 PM

Racer X

Thank you for the help with the set-up that sounds about the same as I had before I took a break. what tires are you using? I have heard that 138G's are still god and that Sorex are good as well, but were mostly for carpet.

I have the one way diff, but have never tried it. What applications would it be for carpet?Pavement? sweeping tracks or tight tracks.

These questions should help you get that post count back up :D

does anyone have the part number for the ABS layshaft? I snapped the spur gear off last time out on carpet.

Racer X 08-27-2001 01:45 PM

The Sorex 36 with HPI inserts (red for above 85, green for 95, blue for 110) are the best tire out bar none. They don't fall off after the first run and they LAST. The Sorex 28s are for carpet.

One ways give more steering, especially turn in, on high bite tracks and carpet. In either situation, I wouldn't race without one as the car will get through the corner faster than with a conventional diff.

Racer X 08-27-2001 01:46 PM

Try U1912A for the slipper layshaft

Taz_S 08-27-2001 01:49 PM

Rx: what tires do you use at night for SRW.

Racer X 08-27-2001 01:56 PM

Last weekend, I used 36s w/ HPI green inserts during the day, 32s w/ Yok firms (an old set that I've had for about a year and hardly used) after the sun went down. Usually, I just keep running the 36s but it takes like three laps to heat up the tires and five before they are all the way up to temp.
