Everyone seems to be pumped on the EC but i'm still working on getting my TEEMU converted over to the BMI Regarding gear ratio's and motor combinations, I noticed at the last over at supperior that Troy's car had all kinds of crazy rip out of the corners and was wondering what size spurs do you guys run for the most part. Currently i have a 122/41 combination in which i think is affecting my ability to spool up quickly. The car is still fast once it gets up to top speed but on smaller tracks obviously i would have an issue. Am i correct in assuming that my spur gear may be a bit on the excesive side? If its not that, what motors are you guys running for 19T classes. I'm still running the Reedy quad spec motors.

    I run 95/26 or 27 for final drive of 6.58 or 6.33 with my Reedt Quad mag. Works good for me.

  • Hey guys, I got to looking at my Mi2 steering "bell cranks" and realized thet they weren't paralell to each other when the car was going straight, they we're angled in towards each other. By adjusting the "centre track rod" (page 2 of the manual) longer, I can achieve more evenly spaced bell cranks, thus equaling the steering throw each way...correct? or is the smoke from the fires here in SoCal imparing my reason The manual doesn't give you a length for the track rod, it just looks as though you snug the ball grippa's togather. pg 31 shows the "steering levers" paralell with the ball grippas snug...impossible!!
  • Just set that center track rod to 40.8mm and you should be set.
  • You might need to use a standard turnbuckle instead of the small threaded rod for the center track rod. When I lengthened mine so my bellcranks were parrallel with the stock rod it pulled out because there weren't enough threads in the ball cups .

  • If anyone is looking... I have 2 MI2's with the team chassis for sale. This is the latest chassis BMI did for the team drivers for the Vegas race with the latest suspension mounting points. PM me if interested
  • Here are some additional details on the Mi2EC and why it is the way it is....

    1. The chassis is 2mm because for Rubber tire Carpet and Asphalt racing 2mm is faster than 2.5mm. The top deck has been altered to tune the flex of the chassis for more traction. There will be a 2.5mm chassis and stiff top deck for Foam tire racing.

    2. All new shocks! The will have and alloy top cap, bladder, hard anodized Teflon coated bodies, machined pistons, Titanium Nitride coated shock shafts and bottom loading seals and bushings.

    3. New two belt drive layout. Due to the ever increasing power levels of Mod motors, new BL motors on the horizon and even better batteries we have gone to this more conventional drive layout. It is just as free as the standard Mi2 drive train but it can handle a lot more HP!

    4. The new diff housings are lighter, better looking and use normal 10x15 mom flanged diff output bearings.

    5. The new motor mount is more rooted to the lower chassis for more stability of the drive train.

    6. The new lay shaft mounts are the same left to right. The 17T pulley option is gone. The lay shaft has been lowered for a lower CG.

    7. The shock mounting positions and and camber link positions are all new on the shock towers.

    8. New low offset rear hub carrier with vertical ball studs. The lower offset give us more steering and more corner speed.

    9. Modified front hub carrier to fit the new narrow hex.

    10. Stronger front and rear suspension arms.

    11. Stronger caster blocks

    12. Light alloy front spool included. Optional Diff and One way are available.

    13. CNC machined Acetyl Lay shaft, rear diff and front spool pulleys included.

    14. Spur gear adapter and RW spur gear included.

    15. Black Hex screws throughout the kit with concave top deck washers.

    16. New narrow allow hexes included for track adjustment. Narrowing the car increase traction on low grip surfaces

    17. Alloy CVD drive shafts. Lighter is better!

    18. New low friction black Ball Grippa's ball cups. These stay tighter longer for a more precise suspension system.

    19. Carbon fiber front and rear suspension arms.

    20. Tungsten balls and U1954 super thrust bearing included in the rear diff.

    21. New narrow low friction belts.

    22. Purple alloy suspension mounts.

    23. Purple Titanium hinge pins and turnbuckles

    24. Anti Roll bars

    25. Purple alloy M3 and M4 nuts through out the kit.

    You now have everything you need in one box to build a true Schumacher Team car!

    That's somewhat a shame I wonder how we're going to achieve rollouts necessary for brushless on small carpet tracks Our track is ~18x18 meters (that'll be 60x60 ft for you on the other side of the pond), ~9 sec laps. So far I've tested my LRP system and it runs happily at around 10:1 gearing, that's 20/95 with 17t pulley...
    I suppose I'll have to go for 17t pinion with the 20t pulley then, I hope it's going to be possible... lowered layshaft means also that bigger spurs will be out.
  • Thats the street price. The kit comes with a spool, no diff and the 2mm chassis.

    Like with most other sedans the stiff lower chassis, top deck and front diff are optional parts.

    Its no problem Olev. The Mi2EC can hit ratios as low as 10:1 (16/89) with the 20T pulley. Thats lower than many other sedans on the market.
  • are there prices for the chassis, and dif? do you know if bmi is working on a new chassis for the new car? i just need to know so i can start saving now.
