Help with MPV motor.
 

So im really new to the hobby and I just got my first Associated pro stock MVP motor and it requires me to solder some capacitors to the motor. To help with radio noise. The picture is not very good Do i need ot put both capacitors on one side of the motor or one on each side?

Look at step 3 of the PDF.
Instead soldering to the can, solder the caps to the small terminal under the screw.

What type of soldering iron did you use and what WATTS does it put out?

Higher wattage is better to a point . I use the Radio Shack higher end soldering gun, I believe it does max 220 or 250 Watts. Works very well and gets that solder heated up quick so you don't destroy stuff.

I think anything below 200 probably won't get the job done very well.

Avoid Radio Shacks 100W solder gun, it will go poof on you.

its a weller 25w hobby iron. Didn't know there was a difference other than the overall temperature. It goes ot 750degree and heats up in under 2 min. The iron seemed to work fine its my lack of skill that casued me the problems

As long as the solder melts in 2 seconds your set. People say you HAVE to have a certain wattage but I use a weller 40wt and once it's up to temp the solder melts the second it contacts the solder. Just make sure you get a chizel tip, the 25w comes with a needle point tip and it won't do if you need to solder batteries. Also make sure you only have the iron on when you need it and that you clean it or you'll go through tips very quickly.

Cool i ws thinking the needle tip would be better for smaller work. I'll check out my hobby shop or get the 40w one later.
