When I spoke with Keven he said he was running version 4 on the stock spec... And said that 4.1 was ready to test.

Yes.
Once you have it updated to Mk 3+ (or whatever they are calling it these days), you should be able to go thru the LRP site for future updates with the new usb jack coming out soon.

I thought the usb update was for the V2 speedies, and not for the 'stock spec'

ya V2 are the only with usb update, other ESC's have to be sent in to AE for the software update, 4 is the most current.... 3 still works good here though, just have to run profiles about 2 or so less than those with the 4 i think.

Where can you purchase an MK4 version of the SXX Stock Spec, or is it a version you have to send in the MK3 to Team Associated for the update?

Also, does the SXX Competition V.2 or the TC v.2 have the same turbo/boost profiles of the SXX Stock Spec MK4, as I would love to have one ESC that could run boosted stock as well as Modified if desired.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply guys, still a little confused. Seems the Mk3 can be upgraded to Mk4 but no-body knows what the upgrade does. The V2 that has just been released is suposed to have different hardware, so can the Mk4 keep up with a V2?
AE has advised me that a Mk3 upgraded to mk4 or what ever can be future upgraded, but I have noticed LRP haven't released any upgrades yet on their web site yet.

I am so disapointed with LRP, over the past 12 months I have been holding on to the hope of using the SXX Stock Spec as I don't have to use a computer. Ever since I have owned it, it has either been travelling across the world for an upgrade or cogging badly... I hope they get it together in 2011. All I want is a ESC that works, is upgradeable. Everytime I turn my computer on Windows whats to load some upgrade patch, why can't my ESC be that easy. LRP need to get on with the show and get rid of the smoke and mirrors. Still like the product, just anoyed it has taken LRP 12 months of having it's customers do the R&D for them.

Never had an issue with the SXXSS.

Mostly used it for 12th 13.5, but now it's in my FF03 in spec mode.

The Tekin RS is imo, a better esc for boosted stock spec racing, but the LRP X12 with the SXXSS was also very good.
The simplicity of buttons, and internal booster for 1s are nice features.

I have not tested it with other brands of motors, could be why I had good luck with it ?

When the usb kit and future updates from LRP are available for it, I will probably test it again in 12th scale.

MK4 upgrade fixed the cogging issues that still existed with MK3, (tested all my problematic motors that cogged on MK3 now ok) when applied you are now able to do future upgrades on your own, if they ever get released. Profiles really didn't change, felt about the same as before.

Okay,
So in order to get the MK4, am I to purchase the MK3, then immediately send it in for the upgrade (seems pretty silly to me), or are the SXX Stock Spec ESC's sold today already MK4? As I look on Stormer, all they are selling is the MK3 version, and now there is supposed to be a 4.1 or V.2 in the works, which may make this a mute point!

Help, as I am still confused about this ESC!

Thanks so much!

You could wait till the SXXSS v2 comes out.
afaik MK3 is the latest N.I.B. available at the moment.

Give credit where it's due.
LRP for the first time is offering backwards compatibility, and it's a free upgrade.

Thanks for the information Johnny, it makes more sense now... I have two Mk3 ESCs, so I am thinking if the V2 is released it might not have any future upgrades for this old ESC so it might be better to wait for the V2. May as well send them back to AE for upgrading to Mk4.x in the mean time. (I am currently using a Kinetic, but it has it's own problems as you know... Hope software V1.4 will fix those issues.)

I have been emailing a dude from AE, who has advised me he hasn't heard of any mk4 software release for the LRP SXX Stock Spec V1, so looks like we are stuck with mk3 only.

Maybe I am talking to the wrong dude, but it seems the latest software for the V1 is mk3. Does anybody know any more? I am stuck with two of these ESCs and both have some cogging issues, depending on the motor you put with them.

Sean Cochran (from AE) performed the update himself. The person you've been talking to should speak with Sean so he's not confused.

I too have been emailing AE the past two days saying that I've heard on RC Tech of an update for the SXXSS and (Chris Jarosz) tells me that "No one on RC Tech has received an update because we have no update".
