hi everyone,
new to electric cars. is there a way you can tell how many turns a brushless motor is besides being told by someone?

Yes you just ask the motor, if it's the kind that could talk.

Seriously though you could connect it to a motor tester like this one which would give you a kV number. From there you could approximate the number of turns.

Check real closely for part numbers, model number, name on the outside, sometimes motors have specific colors for different winds.

If you must, you could take it apart and see if the manufacturer marked the stator.
