Default Just got my First 1/12 car and have questions...

I just got an Xray 1/12 T1M. I've never owned any type of on-road and need some help, please...

What kind of Lipo Pack can I run in it? I see that it accepts a 4 cell pack.

Can I run my Novak GTB with 13.5 motor in it? Or do I need a different ESC/Motor combo?

I don't plan on racing it. Just playing around on the track at my LHS.

TIA!

I don't own one (do have the big brother tho, T1 FK04 ) but just looking at pictures I would think most of the 3.7V packs that pan cars run would fit. It might require some creative mounting solutions...shimming the battery strap or removing it completely and using tape, possibly adding some stops to keep the pack from sliding around if it doesn't have humps on the bottom or if the humps don't line up with the slots on the chassis, stuff like that. The GTB/13.5 would be a great match for just playing on the track, IF the GTB will fit. It has a large footprint and I don't know how much real estate is on the chassis without having one in front of me. You also may have to do some minor dremeling on the chassis cutout under the motor to get the brushless motor in there. The bulkheads and the cutout look identical to my T1FK, and I had to remove some material from the cutout to allow the motor to swing down far enough to allow for brushless-friendly gearing.

the motor will be gread for it but the esc might tweak the body and the stance will look weird because it sits high

Hard to find yes!! Parts from T1, T1EVO2, T1R, & T1FK If you have easy acess on finding them, maybe ok. If just for making if fun to mess around with. Go With any brushless system, maybe Mamba, And cheap lipo 4200mah 7.4v. And let it loose on the track. Just being insane!!! A conversation piece.

It is hard to find bodies for that model. Just remember the model was released in'03, 8 years ago. Only around for a year and a half, cuz 12 scale or minis wasn't popular those years.

Good luck and have fun with it.

Tamiya and HPI make mini bodies that should fit.

The GTB'll fit right behind the servo, put the rx on top of the servo.
1 cell lipos made in the shape of 4 cell nimh should fit, plus thats how most of them are shaped.

although setting up the GTB and the car to run 1-cell might be too much trouble.

It might be better to find a 2cell soft sided pack instead.

Of course, it'll be a rocket with that (7.4V) and a 13.5 in it...
