GREAT Deal on Hakko !

Hey All, thought I would share this as I know many of us need a good soldering station. I contacted these folks and asked if they would list the 110v version of the Hakko 936-12 under the rc section on Ebay and they did. Hope it helps as it seems to be a great deal.

Unfortunately it is a fake... Like fake rolex... Yes I know it looks real and all that but there are couple of china based ebay sellers that sell fake hakko (fake not clones like Aoyue, Quakko, Atten or Gordak). I was tempted to buy one but fortunately I stumbled upon a forum (googling for Hakko 936 reviews) where a unfortunate buyer warned against buying from china Hakko soldering stations with 10 free tips thrown in for free (the typical cost of 10 tips is 30-60 dollars)...

How can you tell it's a fake?

One cannot tell from pictures the seller provided (obviously). And I cannot provide the link to the website where I read the warning about this seller (forum rules) however if you google following: "allaboutcircuits forum fake hakko", the link to the relevant thread should be on the very top (just make sure that you click on allaboutcircuits forum webpage and not some "sinister" webpage like meloveyoulongtime.com ;)).

Got my station just fine and works great. I must say....if this is a fake...they go to great lengths to make it look right. All paperwork has Hakko logo and even lists Hakko corporate link for parts/service. It even stresses using ONLY genuine Hakko parts for replacements. Honestly don't know if this is a fake but if it is it's a damned good one.
If any of you folks bought one of these and are unhappy with it ...I apologise for posting the link.

Personally, I'm completely happy so far and glad I saved 20 or so dollars.

no need to worry about it being fake and shipping is free...

Or you can go to the source: (less than $90, and comes with 2 tips and the decals)
