Quite. We just spoke with the city of Oceanside yesterday about permitting issues and whatnot, we had a building tentatively picked out but just heard of a different one that is on the block for sale, so we're going to take a stab at that. We're targeting this Fall/Winter for it.

Obviously there is still a lot that could go wonky (including my own job search in the area, haha) but so far things are looking up.

Todd, check out this thread that Shane started. We've been brainstorming for a few days on it. I'm so pumped for this to happen.

Default dual deck single belt chassie!

People who want or are looking for a dual deck carbon fiber ,single belt chassie with alloy bulkheads, need not to look any further .Just take a look at the Kawada sv-10 Sigma.at www.kawadaracing.com This is a production kit and is available here in the U.S just go to www.kawadaracing.com this car comes with alot of hop-up parts included in the kit.
Some of my friend have this car and it is fast ,very durable and HIGH quility kit, some of them dumped there losi xxxs and tc3 for the Kawada Sigma and they have been very happy they did!!this car is getting noticed by more and more people .I have older Kawada Alcyon 2 kits(dual belt ) and i am very happy with the cars but i can't wait to get my Sigma.Just wanted more people to know about this kit, some people may confuse it with the losi proto type .When you go to the web-site click on the Sigma button to see pic's and tech info .

that looks like a nice kit but i think that one of the most attractive characteristics of this prototype is the central battery layout.
also i personally like to go with losi as i just like their products.

guys, they're not the only ones to have a centered battery, look at the PTI Evo 2. I saw the car in france last season (it have been developped there) and the handling is really impressive. Too bad the drivetrain was not that good though.

Hodge: Disavow all knowledge of a new car release, if you are apprehended, or information is leaked, the agency will vehemently deny any and all ties to you and your assumed identity. This message will self-destruct.

P.S. Can I drive the prototype at the Carpet Nats?

See ya in a few weeks MAN!!

While I am not an engineer.....I don't see how a central battery system would work with Losi's single belt Drivetrain....The motor has to be offset to use just one belt, unless they used some monster shaft off the spur gear, which really wouldn't be the efficient in my mind....

Hi Eddieo
The battery in the center will works,They might have to use two belt pulley each end of the batteries..Other words the pulley will lift the belt up from the botttom of the chassis ,so the belt is clear over the batteries..My guess

A center mounted battery, while good for centering the mass of the car, will be a pain in the rear to work on, especially with a single belt. It definately didn't work well for Kyosho with their KX-One (now discontinued). Going dual belt, a la Pro3, seems a step backwards, and would require a really stiff chasis straight from the jump, something HPI didn't take into account.

I have no doubt Losi is working on another electric (and hopefully a gas, but I'm not holding my breath!). Exactly when and what it will look like is anyone's guess. As for the XXX-S being ugly, well, would you want carbon fiber or a sealed chasis, especially for those of us that run on asphalt outside? That was one of the best ideas they had, IMHO.

There was another single belt chasis floating around that wasn't the sigma, but I can't remember what it was. I'll do a search later.

Ova - I know the central battery can work, but like you said, it would take two belts. If the battey was centered, the motor would HAVE to be centered, as there would be nothing to counter balance its weight if it was off center. The only way they could do it with one belt is to have a seriously long shaft off the spur gear, which in mind would be very stable and would kill efficiency.

I have been working a bit with a carbon fiber plate chassis conversion kit for the XXX-S....its a ton of work, so it might be a while and with my luck, by the time I get it done, a new Losi car will be out.
